OK, so yesterday had off site day at Haynes Car Museum. Great day went in the 4200 no problem.
When leaving couldn't get car into Neutral to start. Paddles un-responsive. Able to start it as in dropped itself back to N when ignition turned to start then went in to 1st. Gearbox warning light on and auto mode. Would not select reverse at all or Neutral, so therefore couldn't get out of parking space ......major embarrassment.
Tried restarting numerous times, running for a while and reset from boot.....nothing. Had to get workshop guys out from Haynes to help push it back out of space. I then headed off home, with tail between legs. After 10 mins drive auto switched it self off and all manual controls came back, warning light went out.

? thoughts.

Hope this doesn't happen tomorrow at Silverstone....but I guess I will be amongst friends who understand these foibles.

Check all connections, clean battery terminals, earths and any other connections you can see.

Battery is good also? They do not like iffy electrics!!!

John, Just a simple check but the return spring on the reverse select lever is weak and can also break away, if the lever is not fully up and home it throws the mechanism out of whack! mine has done this a couple of times and I have to do a quick reset. simple solution is to manually check the lever is fully up before trying anything.

Not saying this is your issue, just one I've had.
