You said yours was a facelift. In which case it does work because it is what i followed to do mine on a 2007 4200 facelift.

You can actually fit and remove a parrot system without lifting the center consol at all. Slender hands help but i have done it.

Where are you based ? Happy to assist if your nearby or willing to travel.

Im sure @CatmanV2 would assist if your nearer to him.

Indeed, although it's been a few years since I fitted one !

For reference the back of the nit looks like this :

103408

If your sat in the back of the car then the green socket for the phone aerial is at the top on the left side.

The next two sockets down are the iso connectors where the parrot systems piggy back into the system.

The bottom left hand side black socket is i think for the cd interchanger cable. (Hopefully somebody will confirm)

The white socket on the right side is the feed for the display screen.

The grey socket on the right side is for the GPS.

The aerial is on the right side.

If you have slim hands or know somebody that does that can assist you can put your hand in through the top of the armrest and get to the sockets as long as the air vents and carriers have been removed.

The coax for the aerial is quite long with foam wrapped round it and crammed in there and the same applies for the iso cables.

The 2nd time i did a parrot system just took the top of the arm rest off and then removed the aerial and then the iso plugs.

There was enough room once i had re jigged the oem cables to fit the parrot harness and control box which is envelope sized and half inch thick was attached by double sided tape to the in the arm rest too.

Long nose pliers may help if you struggle to get the iso plugs out.

Thanks guys. But I swear the console does not budge a millimetre if I follow the Dave thread to the letter.... (though you can't follow it exactly due to the cup holder piece being different on the mk1's).
Anyway in the end, after much finger contortion, bruising and swearing, I did it without console removal, yay! And just testing phone music on it, using the aux socket, the thing appears to work, double yay!

Next thing, then, is I need to fit the Pure DAB / Bluetooth thing... Will report back!

Well... fitted the whole shebang and the sound was atrocious. After much help from a quality car stereo place (yes I know a contradiction but I did actually find one - and here comes the plug - Skipton Car Radio). Determined that the black box I bought (wasnt actually Yatour but was similar) was actually a pile of cack.... interference and distortion off the scale, unlistenable...
So back to drawing board, and really must figure out how to get that tunnel out for better access...

Where abouts are you based ? If skipton car radio is close to you then im guessing im only 1 hr away from you approx.

Have you thought about the parrot system mki 9200. Blue tooth phone, music streaming and audio inputs.

If your somewhere close to me then im happy to come and help either sort what you have or i do have a parrot system that i removed from my facelift 4200.

Hi Stuart.
Sorry not logged in for a while. You are fairly close to me, I visited you ages ago when you were selling the blue 4200. Ta for the offer of help. One day I will take you up on it, you have been warned lol.
Regarding the unit to use, what I ideally want is something that receives DAB (with its own tuner, because I hate Internet radio on the phone - too many apps needed and too much dropping of connection) as well as Bluetooth music streaming. Hence the Pure device which does it all.

Anyway to give an update, I finally got everything installed and working using the black box with the aux in; and the Pure worked fine for Bluetooth music, also the DAB on it was fine.... until you start to move the car. Then reception is so poor, and drops out so much, its unusable.
So, it's back to drawing board in terms of DAB. I've fitted a simple Bluetooth receiver to the black box so at least I have Bluetooth streaming music from phone.
Its very frustrating with the Pure because I have fitted them before on other cars and they've always been great...
Am wondering if there is something about the 4200 that is preventing me from getting a good DAB signal :(

Im guessing the dab aerial is the film window type and its passive rather than powered/amplified.

The non powered film type are ok round town in strong signal areas. In your more rural areas its very hit and miss.

Either way the film aerial needs a good earth. If its fitted down the side of the screen take the trim off so you can get access to the copper earth tab its self adhesive. Sand down the paint to bare metal under where it is attached and that should improve the signal strength.

You can get a combined dab and standard aerial adapter which is a pass through for you standard aerial into the back of the nit and adds a dab aerial connection. It then makes use of the cars own aerial to supply the dab signal. The 4200 /GS has two aerials one in each of the front and rear screens which are routed via a diversity box to the NIT. Neither of the screen arials are very good though imho.

You could try one of those adaptors and see if it improves things. They are around £15 from memory. I will try and find a link for you.

A powered/ amplified aerial is probably the best way to improve the signal quality. Ive got a feeling the pure dab unit wont support it though as its a battery powered unit i think ?

If its hard wired for power then it may support an amplified aerial. Its usually just a setting that needs changing in the dab unit that will need to be changed to activate the power feed once you have a powered dab aerial fitted.

I remember you coming to see the 4200 now. Happy to help if i can.
