4200 TCU wanted

HI all,
I am in need of a 4200 cambiocorsa TCU as the car when hot, occasionally misses 5th when pushed in sports mode (4th to 6th after a slight cogitation) and having a supplier let me down on one, need to ask if anyone has one lurking around they would sell.
Or Does anyone know of any 4200 being Broken ?
I know there was one advertised on the Ebay a little while ago and contacted the seller who was to call back for card details and although i have left many messages its not going to happen by the feel of it.
Its either the TCU or a poor clutch job by Lancasters which will be claimed under there warenty but they sugest the TCU is at Fault and not there work or parts so i have to try one to see if this is the case (and if it is then job done!)
Re the sale...I got the spyder down to £17k but i never had one good offer or enquiry.
I will now move on and keep the car as a second car and leave it at that.
It is staying with me until it becomes a classic.
Do any of you know how many 4200 spyders were made from 2003-2004?
can i upgrade the audio with any A09 5 cd unit? or is there a better option for a 4200 spyder?
thanks
adam

Adam first port of call is David Askew....or try Alan at Lovetts ( mention the forum)for a new part, he will be very understanding price wise.

But you need to diagnose fully to be sure!

David does not have one.
New the part is £1880 + Vat.
but second hand approx £350 so i really need to find a used one.
I agreeabout diagnostics, but the logical route is to check the simplest thing first as checking if its the clutch means a whole lot of work that i will have to pay for if its found to be OK.
I took the car to Meridian a few weeks ago and they did an SD2 and could not reduce the clutch PIS from 8mm to 4.8. when they did the car would not move. They thought the springs were breaking up but also sugested it could be the TCU
I paid just after the last service for Carrs exeter to do the PIS as it was mentioned on the service (just in passing) that its PIS was 8MM! They were not going to advise and they certainly were not going to try to reset it without me asking and its a good job i had asked on the forum what the correct PIS should be or i would have given it no other thought.
They took over £120 for this "work"and then last week when i asked for my reciepts ,they stated that they had tried to do the PIS but that the car would not move at 5mm!
Why on earth didnt they mention this last year???? I thought that they had done the PIS and they were quite happy to let me believe that and even gave me an invoice detailing this and took my money.
There is to be a care of duty complaint forwarded to maserati UK and lancasters and meridian are also involved in this fiasco (Lancasters potentially being honourable and meridian being the good guys as they have bent over backwards to get things sorted on many occasions)should Carrs gross failure to advise me or raise a fault with maserati (normal course of action)ensue, and if its caused problems with the car that could have been avoided.......

Hello forum members.
I have removed the car from sale and decided to keep it now.(kinda leaning towards that anyway)
Its one thing to advertise the car at a silly cheap price but people still want to haggle before they view the car.
Its about to have a TCU, and just sailed through its MOT and i have yesterday fitted New Pirelli Pzero all round (new brand new Pzero just released with new compounds and a much nicer tread pattern)
Its going into meridian modena friday for some tests and they may well determine that a new TCU is needed.
If its not the TCU then its the clutch job Lancasters did and maserati UK will look into this under warrenty.
As i am now keeping it, i need to get a few things to make the car perfect.
I will be making a request for some design specific items which i will list in another thread.
I know you all rave about Emblem and other specialists...........but Meridian Modena Lymington will beat any price that emblem or any other specialist or main dealer quotes on any work or parts.
They really go out of there way to help people and i even had an engineer fix my roof on a saturday morning ,when one of the ball pins broke on the rams and it was stuck in the closed position. He removed the roof by dismantling it,fitted the ball joint and then put it all back together......He did this for nothing and would not even accept a few £20`s for a "drink"!
He did not have to do this and other members of staff have also been fantastic about things.
I would say this could be contended for the best main dealership in the UK!

Adam, great to hear of a truly wonderful MD experience...it does happen , but we always hear of the somewhat pathetic attempts at both servicing and maintenance that some of them undertake.

Have you had any reply from Maserati UK re your other post?

As regards the price beating claim.....its good to hear of it as well, would be interested in who has made the promise?!

Hoping it all comes together shortly and we see you at one of our meets.

All the best,

P

well I have to agree with that regarding Carrs attempt at my Major service and the insult to my intelligence when questioned about things not done......
meridian modena are doing the tests for Maserati UK to determine what is wrong ,but i believe that Maserati UK are making enquiries into why the dealership in Exeter charged for work that was not done and did not raise a fault report or advise the customer of the problem.
Its a clear case of negligence and i have fortunatly got all correspondance relating to this and other work so can backtrack everything that was said by each of us.
To be honest i know it sounds like i am a bit of a fussy bu55er ,but i do think that failing to advise of such an important problem is tantamount to gross negligence on there part.
I now have a clutch with 40% waer as the PIS is still at 8mm!!
Still lets see what the findings are on friday.
The price beating claim is on Meridians website and they reiterated it to me every time i go there.
I had a quote from Emblem for the windscreen and it was £1400+Vat .... Meridian was £1090+Vat dont know about you but thats a good saving at meridian.

I know Lovetts and Gray Paul have said they will price match...not sure how long they offers last for, usually its against indie prices though.

Do keep us appraised of the outcome and how Meridien get on sorting out the mess left.

Cut and paste from the website:

Our Price Promise

1. We believe that your car deserves the assurance of an Officially
Approved Dealer
2. And to allay fears that may be expensive
3. Meridien guarantees to match the price of all Servicing and Repairs
quoted by any Specialist or Dealer

But in reality they beat the price considerably...Its a dog eat dog world and every dealer needs to be competative to stay in business.
Meridian openly admit that the 3200,4200,gransport and QP are there "bread and butter" and without them there would be no service centre.
