Hi all,
I purchased a nice 52 plate Spyder about a month back privately, for a good price, however, I have had to pay almost £1k on tyres, annual service and a leaking CC pipe, but now I have a couple more issues, beginning to realise why they are so cheap to buy!...
Issue 1: have the ASR / MSP light came on intermittently, now almost all the time. Diagnosed in Giallo when serviced as the front right wheel sensor, which being part of the bearing is £534 . I have read on some forums if you buy the later blue wire ver - £359, you can use a resistor to bring the resistance down to the same as the black wire. Anyone tried this?.
Issue 2: Had the aircon regassed but it's still warm, which Giallo's point probably to the Climate Control unit. Not 100% sure, as it all functions except for throwing out cold climate air after being regassed. There's a slight "hiss/whine possibly?" when the Aircon is on, if I press Econ it goes so it may be something else - perhaps a leak?
Issue 3. Not so much an issue per say, but the brakes are pretty bad I feel for this car. Thinking of Brembo vented only equivalents from brakeparts.co.uk for £96 each, a set of EBC Yellow or Redstuff? and Goodridge stainless hoses, which I hope will sharpen up the brakes for around £400.
The sensor is the most pressing issue, as it feels like the ECU is retarding the ignition when the ABS/ASR error comes on, anyone have any suggestions on lower cost for the bearing and how difficult would it be to fit if I had a bearing puller?
Other than the above, a lovely car, sounds amazing and is a pleasure to drive, but blimey it isn't half expensive to maintain!.
Thanks all,
David.
P.S. Picture (not very good one) attached!.
