Very interesting, its good that they have gathered this data but I suspect that if you did a simular thing with people who died from paracetamol overdose between the same dates you would get a similar set of results.

Nick, you are not far wrong.....but don't they sell them now with the antidote already incorporated into each tablet, so if you overdose you won't ruin your liver?

However, when you think how many miles have been driven on those same roads over the same period, the odds are still in favour of us getting where we are going to in one piece.

When you dig a bit deeper into the data, seems to be a good few who died in conditions like heavy snow in August. There are massive inacuracies on there, which kind of puts the whole thing in doubt. A guy on SELOC quoted a double death on there which was 2 people who jumped off a motorway bridge in a suicide pact. Also a lot of over-80s keeling over in their cars as natural causes.

Anti-speeding propaganda as always :(

From a guy in Nottingham who entered his postcode:

3 since 1999 on country roads

1 - 75 year old who stepped out into the road infront of a car
1 - 75 year old cyclist riding late at night with no lights in middle of the road hit by car
1 - 85 year old driver on wrong side of the road hit by another car.

Hardly startling apart from the age thing

So...from the data........inaccurate data it seems......all over 60s should be banned from being within 100 metres of a road..........where does that leave poor Urbie??!!

No doubt there will be some inconsistencies buried within the stats. The good news though is that the numbers of people dying on the roads has reduced massively over the years. There are many reasons for this but a key factor is the improvement in car safety technology.
