They are a statement of their time. I could go for a Merak, Biturbo, 3200 and then the GTS Auto as a daily driver. Doubt I would get the lot past the credit committee mind, strange as the first three cost a lot less combined than the fourth which is on it's way.

...looks alone aint enough to carry an argument!P

Disagree P...:D
Looks alone got me into an E-type, looks alone got me into my QP, and looks alone will get me into a DB9

(Think the Merak is fantastic value...get rid of those awful bumpers...be fabulous!)

....for me Enz......usually its the style/design and speed combo.........................occasionally it has been style only too....;).....TBH.......BUT...not solely to condemn a super car...because it already has "style" and outright speed!

Like that, I always have, and luv my 70's wedges. I agree its a bit of a flaky true Maserati sports car, but luv them all the same.

I like your sentiments Matt, I aree with what you say.
All of these were supercars in their time the fact that they are not doted upon like the Fezzas should not condem them. The Merak/ Bora design was a masterful creation by Guigario, who in my humble opinion has to be one of the true masters.

Because of the fragile nature of the Merak they have to be one of the few remaining "bargains" on the market if you are able to take on the work. But to be honest which of these Italian Mammas are viceless ?

Is it the Citroen hydraulics which put people off ( plenty of experts in that area anyways!).......or how fragile were they Bal?

I think the hydraulic system is excellent if well maintained. As with anything old, this is a high pressure system and everything needs to be tip top, any weak spot will be exposed with p!ssing fluid! In the Bora, it controls more than just the suspension, even the pedal box is hydraulically adjusted. So if it fails, its probably a total failure and time to call the tow truck.

It probably the sort of think that would let you down on a long trip and leave you stranded, hence the unreliability, but Bal should be able to give a full account, hopefully not from experience!

As a long standing Citroeniste......and having run DSs for a number of years......never had a bother with hydraulics......as ever, neglect any pressurised/fluid based system at your peril!
