A Wee Dose of the Droop!

Oh dear, I seem to be suffering from a bit of droop! The leather headlining of my Gransport is beginning to droop on the passenger side. Not particularly noticable but I dont want it to get worse. Any quick fixes and is there an in situ solution?
I'm steeling myself for the removal of the complete headlining but I've been advised the windscreen needs to come out as well.
Any thoughts or advice. Cheers!

Done two in the last month….it’s official, Maserati leather glue lasts 18 years!

Its got to come out I’m afraid.

Seats stay in just use the headrests to support the headliner as it drops then gradually lay the backs down to lower it, window down, door wide open and it will fit.

Start with the sunvisors and central light, curtain trims. I cut the pass sunvisor wiring and reconnect it, beleive me you will never rethread it.

Top half of the rear quarter trims, coat hangers then it pops off.

4 press studs on the rear of the headliner about 4” back from the glass, you will want new ones.

With it out carefully work the leather off, do not tear the foam.

Carpet spray contact adhesive, touch dry and work in sections.

Don’t leave yourself short at the final fold.

Thanks, much appreciated. Do any windscreens have to be removed?

I did a full interior removal and leather treat during Lockdown V1, and can confirm no windscreen needs removal. As Matt said, leave the seats in, then when its full unbolted etc, recline the seats all the way back, and it slides out the door area at an angle.

Finally, to undo the trim, is it necessary to remove the rear seats and boot internal trim to access screws for the parcel shelf? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. Seems pretty straight forward. Unfortunately some disinformation elsewhere.
Cheers.

I had prices all over the map around me here in the states. Some told me they wouldn't touch my old headliner and would have to use new material! Cloth starting around $1200 and leather most likely 5+K! I finally got with the right people and had it reattached for $650.00. Looks brand new and I wouldn't want to do it for that price. To do it right all the old glue has to be removed from the pan + headliner. Lottsa trim pieces that if you don't have experience can be broken. Plan on needing new clips....they can be found.

A wee update. Just had headlining stripped and reglued. I can confirm Conaero's take on removal of the headliner is correct. The c pillar trim doesn't have to be removed and the headliner can be removed via the passenger door no problem.
I did learn that the 4 trim clips which share the same part no as Ferrari are not the same and dont fit! Anyway thanks for your help. Cheers.

So what are the required parts?
The four studs that hold the back of the headliner is part no 14591987. This no is shared with Ferrari. You need the Maserati part. I've got these on order and will compare them when they arrive.

Well, that's me picked up the Maserati parts and they look exactly the same! Same size and width. I suspect someone has butchered/fettled my headliner in the past as it certainly has been off in the past. Hey ho! The chap who fitted the headliner managed to find some studs that fitted.

I've had a go on my headliner and re-glued the original fabric but you really do need to replace once sagging and I think the columns would look better replaced too.
Any idea of cost for full replacement?

I don't know about across the pond. I was negotiating with the dealer I bought my car from...yes, way out there on repairs. The cheapest option I was offered was a cloth replacement at $1200+. They wouldn't consider re-gluing my headliner. To go back with leather they wanted $5,000+! I was able to get mine re-glued for $650.00 and it looks brand new!
