Hamilton and Vettal in the same car wouls be a very interesting battle.........Lewis is head and shoulders above Button driving wise adn probably head and shoulders above most.....He has a few more years to mature though.............There will always be flavour of the month drivers and at this stage its not Lewis but that doesn't make him one of the best driver on the grid.......... a few years ago Button waa in the same position and did nothing but blame the car even when it was his fault and I remember speaking to people who said the same sort of thing they saw about Lewis...........Next year it will be someone else........

Agree with what Benny said, Hamilton is quite a rash driver, i think he sometimes thinks the race is won at turn 1.

Lewis is fed up of being pimped by sponsors et all.....think he's over it now and just wants to concetrate on driving. I find it strange when people say he's not a quick driver or he's not proven. before he won the championship in 08 the same things were said. now he's won it it's changed slightly to "one hit wonder and only did it because he had fastest car" - which he didn't - Ferrari did. in his first season he beat the existing DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION in the same machinery(more Wins i think even though they had same points) - Vettel had never had a TOP team mate like that and gone toe to toe and held his own

We've heard it said many times by people actually IN formula one that he is one of the top 3.....only he and alonso can drive a **** car fast (maybe add Kubica to that as i think he's severely underated) and get the team in to a championship winning position. they have BOTH proved this in this and last season and for hamilton, in the second half of the 09 season when Button couldnt win ANYTHING after Turkey

Vettel is NOT proven although i do like him...seems a funny guy and he's bloody quick...and i thin he's only going to get better. formiddable opponent. F1 all the better for it to!

I agree with Andy - back in the day, the same things being said about Hamilton now were said about Button - "playboy lifestyle".....im sorry but if ANY of us were in our twenties surrounded by the CIRCUS that is formula one....im sure most of us would INDULGE......boys will be boys!!!

one thing i would say is - if i was Anthony i'd really want my son to get rid of Nicole....she's lovely but a major league distraction....but kids have a habit of wanting to do what they want after a certain age eh?

Lets not forget Buttons roots in F1, Williams were struggling ( unlike McClaren for Lewis ) and Button pulled off some good points with them wrongly Frank loaned him out to Bar Honda and his return to Williams never came about , and Williams continued its F1decline, but Button persevered with Bar gaining experience even buying out his own contract from Williams for £6million so he was always a committed determined to succeed driver ,

Lewis on the other hand was gifted his first chance at McClaren for several reasons other than being a competent driver, with a pushy father he ticked a lot of boxes, in a time of peak political correctness his colour helped to promote him as a motor racing F1 first , his age was also surprising and helped to fuel the media frenzy that McClaren encouraged, all really contibuted to hype him up to something he wasn't , in a time when the McClarens were streets ahead of most of the other teams he couldn't really fail to show some flair,

As an old fogey and knowing how the British press/ public love to set someone up to fail, he certainly ticked that box without any shadow of doubt , it was all too much too soon , and like too many others before him ,he began to believe it once the millions rolled in , he had taken the Devil Ron Dennis's penny and now it was time to repay in other ways than track performance , the truth is still to come out in its entirety on that one since then his performance has been purely average along side others with the same experience

Vettel on the other hand is altogether a different kettle , mature beyond his years , by far the most natural talent and feel for a car , natural at understanding game tactics and actually how his car works as to set up and what does what , appreciative of his position in the motor racing world , sofar not a hint of cockyness , an out of the media lime light lifestyle , other than what is expected sponsor wise , all in all a good egg and pleasure to watch if not a tad boring only to due to the fact that Redbull are at present streets ahead tech wise , history and Bernie will prove their time will be over in the near future , and some newer faster blood will take their place Lewis's time has been and gone , and i dont think the pop group management team 19 will do him any favours for the future other to confirm that at such a young age his career is on the wain , its a shame and he should of managed his career with more maturity

Some good points there Loz and I agree with them all. There is a pop star element with Hamilton (that's why I compared him to Beckham), and I don't think it benefits him apart from the money. In fact Bernie asked McClaren why there was a video on Youtube of the McClaren pits during the race that was shot by '50 cents for a piddle D" (or whatever he is called) who was one of Hamiltons entourage. Best he grows up and quick.
