Great! after having my air con regassed a few days ago, now there is a leak. Coming from drivers side right at the front.

Any ideas on how to fix or is this an expensive specialist job?

I checked with the garage that who regassed it and they said there is nothing they can do.

Why am I not surprised, hey ho, its a Maserati!

:)

Check the condensor for corrosion as that looks major dumping the oil and dye out.
Surprised it pulled a vacum and gassed up ok?.
Hope its not come out of the compressor.

+1, its against environmental regs to leave gas in system if a leak is suspected. Very surprised a leak was not detected. Typical Kwik Fit though, they prob knew that they were incapable of fixing it and just wanted your re-gas cash!.

I agree, felt fobbed off and I feel they are not as good as they make out to be. I will avoid them in future.

Anyway I am taking my car to a friends garage near Reading. They are Turnagain Motorsport and I trust both of his mechanics. At least they will source the leak, it looks like it is coming from a small area where two pipes join together, no leak near or from the compressor itself.

Also they will do for me the two lamnda sensors, oil & filter change, radiator thermostat plus fluid flush. I have bought all OEM stuff ready. Decided I just dont have the know how to do this work myself, had a look/go jacked car up and then realise it is not going to be easy! I was nervous as the car is running beautifully at the moment and I was too scared that I may break it.

They are also doing on the same day a filming of a new Porsche, some other car(s) plus mine gets included too :) All going on a promotional DVD...

Hi Gavin,

I'm in Maidenhead so not too far, I use a Ferrari garage QV in Windsor for most of my work , they are ex-Maranello's engineers who know their way around the car and don't charge the earth, might be an option for you for servicing etc. Regarding air con, I got mine regasssed last summer and it lasted about a week, now it gives off a musty type smell, so I've been running around with the windows open, no leak so far as I can tell. Its on the to-do list....

Have exactly the same problem as you and a very similar story, you can hear the leak - nothing visible like that though cus I gassed mine with one of those bottles from Halfords. It lasted a while and I did suspect the condensor too.

Turned out to be the metal pipe between the compressor and the condensor which had rubbed against another pipe or something and had caused a hole to appear.

I got the hose from Greg at PPCP and he chucked the condensor-dryer pipe and a couple of other aircon bits for £50. Will be fitting it soon hopefully.

Kwikfit would not look at it because the aircon air pressure was 0 and they are not allowed to re-gas anything with zero pressure for environmental reasons. Was a bit disappointed at the time, but it saved me £50 with hindsight, so can't complain too much about it really.

all fixed

While having car was on a ramp after being serviced with new lamnda sensors, etc, I had the aircon fixed by a mobile aircon specialists. (Pixs are on another thread, but here they are again.) Very happy, as I thought it was going to be a major expensive headache. But I will start saving the pennies ready to buy a new compresser unit anyway...
