Alarm beeps on and off

An interesting one I just came across that I will share. If anyone wants to put there alarm into DUTCH mode (no beeps) here is the procedure:

  1. Put the key in and turn to MAR (ignition on).
  2. Turn on hazards.
  3. Press and hold the rear foglight button.
  4. Turn it to OFF -> MAR -> OFF very quickly
  5. Release the rear foglight button.
  6. You should hear 4 slow quiet beeps. This says you're in programming mode.
  7. Press the rear foglight button 4 times (for Holland setting - no beeps), it beeps each time you press it.
  8. Put the key back in to MAR within 10 secs.
  9. The system will beep again quietly 4 times (or the number you set it to).
  10. Then take the key out and turn the hazards off. It should be set.
The Dutch setting is 4 presses of the fog light, you can re-instate the beep by changing back to the UK setting with 5 presses.
Apparently it will be ever so slightly louder when the alarm goes off too (114 vs 110 dB!)

Interesting the sneaky convoluted way they build programming methods. Reminds me of trying to reset the service light on a few things of old.

For us we get cars in with no beeps and customers want them back on so this should help as we always thought the alarm unit was a fault as they do fail after 10 years or so.

Thanks for this! Since a battery reset, I think my Strad has gone "Dutch". Central locking and alarm siren works but no flashes from indicators or beeps when remote locking. Weirdly, the indicators do flash when opening the boot remotely.

@conaero I tried your instructions but couldn't get them to work but I'm probably doing something wrong as I didn't get the 4 beeps in step 6.

That’s awesome, my car is now in Dutch mode so works on a 2019 GT for info.

Now what’s the key combo for sport mode with soft suspension :D

Sounds like the Maserati engineers had fun setting that up. Others modes to try.(Joke)

1 Press is Italian setting. It surrenders straight away

2 presses is German setting. Just keeps going regardless.

3 presses is Russian setting. Does whatever it wants when it wants and drops the windows to throw people out.

6 presses is Greek setting where you can only get in through the backdoors !

Brilliant! Whilst in programming mode, is there anything else that can be set? Lights flash to indicate arming? Set "coming home" light mode, etc? There must be a few more hidden functions?

might try this on my 2006 QP.
Setting alarm when locking car "went quiet" a few months back and just assumed the alarm was packing up.
Thanks Matt.

I would try it on all or the cars that use this alarm, GT, 4200, 3200, Fezers, Alfas the lot.

Hello everyone in the group, how could I set the alarm for Spain?
Thanks Jon
There is no specific setting for Spain so use EEC (1 beep). A table summaries the different ones here:

knipsela-jpg.870891

knipselb-jpg.870893
.

This is for Alfa Romeos but same applies to Maserati AFAIK.

So it's:
  • 1 beep for Europe
  • 2 beeps for GB
  • 3 beeps for Belgium
  • 4 beeps for Holland
  • 5 beeps for the Rest of the World

I must admit I'll keep mine on, although it annoys me, it gives my neighbours a 30 second warning that peace is about to be shattered!
