Alarm failure

08 QP One of two error messages flash up on starting the car. Either 'Break-In Attempted' or 'Alarm System Failure', or both.

I also noticed that the indicator lamps do not flash when I set the alarm with the remote, but the red LEDs on the doors blink.

Is there some way of fully resetting the alarm system? Or alternatively does anyone know what menu in the SD3 will tell us what's wrong?

Cheers.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago with the warning message on the dash after start up,
but my indicator lamps were flashing ok, it was the beeps that were missing...
I hooked it up to SD3 and it showed B1026 (9026) Siren, as shown in the pic.
I replaced the siren with a new one myself, not a big job.
BTW, this was on an '04 QP.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not particularly familiar with SD3, so was that message coming up with a general scan, suh as you would get a listing of codes with a standard ODBII readout, r was it in some long forgotten menu?

Also, do you, or anyone for that matter, no if a regular ODBII computer will show whatever error code are there?

Cheers.

Unlikely that a regular OBDII will read that, I'm afraid.

If the sirens are anything like the 4200 they are quite cheap and easy to fit.

I don't have a problem with the sirens, I have a fault that can't be traced. I tried the good 'ol Italian reboot but the 'Break In Attempted' and 'Alarm Malfunction' error still pop up intermittently. Also, the alarm doesn't bleep when set and the indicators don't flash. The indicators flash when opening the boot. I'm hoping someone can tell me where in the SD3 menus the alarm system can be diagnosed.

The alarm not beeping is indicative that you have a siren fault...
pretty sure you will not see the code on an OBD reader,
I will try and find out where in the SD3 menu this sits and re-post, but surely your SD3 operator should know?

Thanks for the help ENZ525. The gentleman that has looked at it is not used to the alarm analysis functions in SD3.

Ah ha! I think I know what may be causing the issue. The fuel filler door does not release on the dash button and I need to use the emergency release to get it open. I suspect that there is either a sensor on the electrical part or the motor is stuck open. Does anyone know where both the fuse for this is as wellas how to get access to the actual release mechanism to check it out?

Cheers!

On the 06 MY QP - The Fuse for fuel tank flap cap is F-38 rated at 15Amp...
to the right of the steering wheel is a flap you can open, (this is the same place where the obd reader is gets plugged into),
turn the 2 large slotted screws a 1/4 turn and another flap opens to reveal the dashboard branching ecu fuses and relays,
you will see 5 columns with 5 fuses...F-38 is in the first column (from the left), 3rd one down.

OK, checked the fuse and it's fine. Do you know how to gain access to the fuel filler flap release motor so I can check that this is not stuck open and/or is working fine?

Thanks for all your help ENZ525, I appreciate it.

No problem Brainsick, happy to try and help...

The following is from the Model Year 2006 workshop manual.

It is the procedure to remove & refit the electric fuel tank flap opening actuator,
which may or may not be what you want to do, at least it shows how to get to it.

I have not performed this myself, so cannot give any pointers.

If you attempt any of this yourself, you do so at your own risk, hope you understand!

That's a bit more involved than I hoped.... But if the weather is OK tomorrow I will give it a go.

I don't suppose there is an alarm sensor on the filler flap, is there? I'm thinking I could kill two birds with one stone here. The alarm malfunction message came up after the fuel flap failed to open the first time, and after a system reset it has returned after the same event.

Cheers.

Hope it works out ok for you... sorry, not sure if there is an alarm sensor on the fuel flap.

Update.....

I swapped out the fuel filler door actuator for a brand new one, checked the fuse was ok, and..... nothing.

It is getting plugged into an SD3 on Moday and we will see if w can figure this out. I'm hoping to **** that the body computer isn't shot.

Hi Brainsick, what ended up being the issue. I have the exact same problem now with my QP, went out Saturday battery was flat. sorted that all out and went to get petrol. opened fuel filler. finished got In and break-in attempt showed up in dash and ever since alarm doesn't bleep and hazards don't flash when locking.

Thanks Craig
