Alloy Wheel Refurb - North London

Afternoon all, I need to get the wheels on my 4200 refurbed as they've never been done and are starting to peal slightly around the valves and bolts.

I am in North London, near Wood Green/Ally Pally and will need to take the car and leave it with them. Has anyone got any good experiences in the area and therefore suggested specialists?

There are plenty who will come to your place/work/wherever, and do it for you. I'm not in your area, but had mine done recently by a mobile guy for £65 a wheel.

There is a wheel refurb (tyres off, off the car, acid dipped and sand blasted then powder coated, repainted and lacquer) and "Smart Repair" which is a cosmetic touch up and doesn't last at all. The former for 18" wheels tends to be around £70 + VAT whilst the vastly inferior "smart repair" is around £60 + VAT.

Smart repair outfits are used to cheaply spray the wheels and prep the car for sale by dealers - they are after a cosmetic look that lasts 3-6 months of car use.

Smart repairs? I'd avoid - a colleague had it done on Porsche Turbo and its cr&p. He paid a guy to cone to his house to do it. Spent about an hour/hour-and-a-half and charged him £65 + VAT.

He us now going to have that wheel refurbed and been quoted £85 + VAT to have it done properly.

I have used him many times and he’s good and reasonoand he also goes to Desira Alfa Romeo (not far from you) once a week so could possibly tie in a deal on the day he’s around anyway

Yes you could leave the car with them, he lives opposite me so your welcome to also use my drive if you wish
