hi sorry i have not had it out of the 3200, but F 00C 2G2 044 is the sensor in the alfa 166 3.0cf3 maf and is the same sensor in the 4.2 maseratis, ill try and check what it is in the 3200, but F 00C 2G2 044 sensor is contained in
0280 218 054 55193049 F00C 2G2 044 2.5 24v CF3 and 3.0 24v CF3
0281 002 309 46559804 F00C 2G2 044 03 1.6 147, 03 CF3 2.0 147, 02 156 2.4jtd 150hp
0281 002 308 46559828 F00C 2G2 044 '02/03 Fiat Stilo/147 1.9 8v
ie cf3 alfa engines even if a 1.6

I recently changed my maf on my alfa 166. It turned out that bosch uses the same sensor in many cars. So just change the sensor and keep the plastic housing (sensor held by two screw /torx). If I bought a new one, even off ebay was £190, dread to think how much of alfa, so just bought a maf for an alfa 147 1.6 (£50) and changed the sensor. I imagine its the same for the maserati.

That's good work Drellis just remember each MAF sensors have different curves so if you were to put the sensor element from a 1.6 into a 4.2 the setup will be all wrong I would have thought.

Hi the internal Bosch sensor has same part number. It's just the outer plastic body, the tube, is a smaller diameter on a 1.6 than the larger engines

The sensor is just a sensor I believe and it's up to engine management to do the rest. I no expert though but the 1.6 sensor works great in my 3.0 Alfa.

I think you are right drellis, the sensor is just a sensor, it does not govern anything, it acts like a switch, it would matter if the voltage and impedance were wrong.

ok two things here. The MAF sensor is not a switch, it measures the air flow into the engine (Mass Air Flow=MAF). It is possible that the same sensor could be used for different sized engines in different diameter meter bodies. The sensors are hot wire anemometers, which means they measure air velocity and so the flow rate is calculated inside the ECU, and so you may be right about the same transducer in different meters. But be careful, this controls the mixture, as the intake air flow is used to work out the ideal fuel to inject. So if the air flow measurement is slightly out or the curve is wrong (linearity over the range) you will not get the right power output from your engine, and your fuel consumption will suffer. So it may "work" but you would need to run it on a rolling road monitoring emissions and logging power output to make sure its correct. So yes these sensors may work but you better make sure they are the right part!

completely agree with above, its just bosch puts the same sensor in different diammeter tube mafs and charges dependant on how expensive the car!

Drellis if the actual sensor has the same part number on it then I think your assumption is correct. If it was at all wrong you would notice it via the consumption and power output as Davy points out.

yep agree with u both completely. so if anyone changes theirs just take the sensor out of the maf and buy the sensor by itself if you can, or buy the cheapest maf unit with the correct sensor number and swap it

MAF options

The removable sensor part of the AIR FLOW/MASS SENSOR (MAF) is a Bosch F00C2G2044 and is compatible according to following list with Bosch F00C2G2030, F00C2G2033.

Here is the list (attached) of cars which this part is normally fitted to,please note this is only a guide...
PART NUMBER IS ALWAYS KING WHEN ORDERING ANY CAR PART, IF UNSURE CHECK PART NUMBER WITH LOCAL DEALER.

...From this list I chosed a Volvo V70 one and ordered a cheap OEM from manufacturer ARCHER, but did not got any of the
F00C2G2044 ,F00C2G2030 or F00C2G2033. Instead I've got F00C2G2027 for WV Passat (# 06A906461), so I checked It up and the F00C2G2027 was OK as a replacement for Volvo V70. Then I tried it on the Maserati and all seems OK.

From the F00C2G2027 I've got a lots of other Cross References..

*Mercedes-Number A6110940048 (Daimler-chrysler) is a F00C2G2027
*F00C2G2056
*F00C2G215
*F00C2G2040
*F00C2G2055
*F00C2G2029 (BMW 320D, 525D, 530D)

Another option for Maserati is The OEM - IVECO 504074171 (including the venturi housing).

..sorry the uploading of the 5 images are not in the right Paging order. For the heading of each column, see 3'rd image (MAF_Page_1.jpg)

I tend to agree with your thoughts on this.

I have previously spoken to Bosch UK Technical helpline, who stated that apparently each sensor is flow tested in its housing. The sensors are then screwed in with Security Torx Bolts.

They also stated that they never sell MAF Sensor elements on their own, but only within their paired housings.

In my opinion a sensor works in its respective housing as the cross sectional area has a bearing on the airflow and thus should stay in their appropriate housings.

The flipside as others have mentioned is that a Bosch Sensor is going to be identical if it has the same part number therefore this sensor can then be placed in housings that were originally fitted with the same sensors.

Just my $0.02

Bosch MAF info

Look at the attached Bosch info. The output curve is all depending on the venturi diameter. Small engine - small diam, Big engine - big diam. All MAF's here have the same sensor inside. Maserati use the Bosch HFM 5 series (compete assembly # 0 281 002 421), 15...1000 kg/h. The Accuracy tolerances are +-3%. From an "Application For Certification 2010 Model Year" Maserati have declared for the US market, the MAF tolerances to be +-3%. So there are no tighter tolerances for Maserati than the standard Bosch ones.

..sorry for paging order in attachment. uploads seems to sort by file size

I had an interesting chat with my indie today regarding 3200 parts. He indicated that a number of Bosch parts previously unavailable except through Maserati, could now be purchased through Bosch distributors. The throttle pedal pot being one of them. He speculated that Bosch may have had a 10 year exclusive deal with Maserati and that it had now lapsed allowing them to sell direct to the public.

Any one else headr this?

Less of an issue but the interior light by the rear view mirror appears to be the same as in my old Alfa GTV V6 (probably the TS as well) and the rear pod lights are Alfa as well.

I have a feeling the chrome vents are from a Fiat/Alfa as the silver trimming around the side is identical to my last 156 but the front design is slightly different and sueded.

FUEL FILTER - 3200 (only?)....(Courtesy JIMDOTCOM...post ....#149) by Parisien

Another item of interest is the fuel filter on the 3200. This is a standard Bosch part used on various cars including Jags that I've had....(Part no. on the filter is the Bosch Part No.) Works out to about 30% of the Eurospares price when bought from a Bosch supplier.

NEED THIS PART number to compare/price...anyone help?
