Well that sort of depends on what you want it for:
From what I gathered from the original posts it’s a condition of his insurance - he se it has to be a proper tracker.
The best advice on this thread so far has been “change insurance companies”

If my car / motorbike is stolen, I don't want it back so avoid trackers.

The Vodafone shite was installed in my car and the 1st year paid for so I told the insurance company. Year 2 was going to be £300 so I asked my insurance to requote and it was £6 cheaper without a tracker!

I would change insurance company - AIB didn't require it and I'm now with Performance Direct who also don't require it even though my car lives outside. I have a £10 Ebay GPS/Mobile tracker in it with a PAYG SIM - if it moves after being stationary for a long time it sends me a text with the Google Maps link - same if I want to know where it is, I call the number then hang up and it sends me the text (5p on ThreeUK)

You can also subscribe to have it on website but I don't bother.

It's wired to an ignition circuit to save battery drain as the module battery will last 2wks and just charges when you driving.

I think it depends on what model you have. There was no requirement for a tracker on my other GT's but the insurers through AIB insisted on it for the Strad. Have to keep it in the garage overnight when I'm at home too.

Just checked and my Strad is with Global Telemetrics at £12.49 per month. Compulsory for the insurance, so fitted out of necessity not choice.

can you purchase a ‘block’ of months? Vodaphone are doing us an ‘offer’ which saves us a couple of months payments if we pay for 3 years.

scratch that, I’ve found the web page and will have a look.
