Hi Guys - Roger Holding this end from Geelong, Victoria, the football capital of Australia.

I'm a current owner of a 2003 4200GT (the silver one in the recent pic of Masers at the Barwon Heads Golf Club lunch run a few weeks ago) and Moderator of the Maseratioz chatsite.

We certainly have a lot of activity down here and as our Aussie dollar is very strong at the moment, your cars are consequently
pretty cheap, so I thought an upgrade might be in order. I recently purchased the 2007 Grigio Nuvolari GS from Nuvola that's been on the Pistonheads site for several weeks - its now on the voyage to Australia to an eagerly waiting new owner.

My Aussie friend Geoff Cullen has been of great assistance in the purchase and has been just as excited as me about the impending new addition to the Melbourne group.

I'll be in the UK later this year (late August - too bloody cold there at the moment) and look forward to catching up with some of our UK cousins.

Cheers (and sorry to steal another from the motherland)
Roger

I sold my Lotus Elise last year to France within 30 minutes of posting on Pistonheads due to the weak pound against the euro, but I haven't heard of many Elise's being imported to Australia...apart from those emigrating and taking their cars with them, but Maserati's it appears so.
What's the import tax situation importing into Australia?
Cheers

Lotus Elise only upto 04/2006 builds allowed in under RAWS, whereas Masas up to 02/2007
Not much demand for lotus other than club track etc & local prices are keen

Think there is some stuff on importing in the OZ section but basically for eligible vehicles rule of thumb GBD/fx rate *1.3 gets it cleared. Add local compliance costs (masa.f360 around aud 10-12k)

Welcome indeed Roger.....at least they are going to a good dry location......and a country where no one is allowed to drive faster than 50mph......;)...so they will survive longer!

Hi Roger and welcome to the forum. I'll be interested to read of your impressions once you receive your new GS. I've made the same step and was astonished how different the two cars feel. Would be great to see photo's once she's down-under.

Well done Roger; not too sure about the football capital of Australia though.
There would be a lot of toothless supporters that would disagree.
Go Pies, may the mighty magpie machine reign supreme in 2012!
Back on topic, our friends in the UK can rest assured that the car is headed to a good home and to a very good owner.
Cannot wait to see it.

If you Google "Maseratioz", you should be directed to our very exclusive site. UK members are welcome - just let me know your e-mail address and I'll send an invitation.

I've done just that Roger, but the search didn't come back with anything?

Miles when you search for that term Google auto corrects it to Maserati. If you look at the top of the page, it has a link to search for the original term.

Also check your not just searching the UK, but worldwide.

I found it but you need a yahoo account to access it, which I don't have.

Gentlemen - any Maserati owner is eligible to join our Australia chat site (even Poms). As the site is by invitation only, you will need to send me your e-mail address and I can then extend an invitation for membership.
Probably the easiest is by direct e-mail to me - rholding@bigpond.net.au

We look forward to the usual banter from our British cousins, however, we will run your request past our Aussie members for approval!
Cheers

You have my approval Roger... and well done on buying GS. I just know you will love it.... it will feel so different to your 4200... I could not believe how different they felt to drive...

Hi Roger,,

Is this your new baby,, if so very nice. I think it was very wise to get the extended warranty and the black top on the dashboard,,, the glare from the windscreen can be very difficult if you don't wear shades 100% of the time, I should know..

Yep - that's it. Currently on the high seas in the Grand Phoenix, somewhere past Spain at the moment.
I've only seen one other with that colour combinbation, but would have preferred black carpets to offset the
beige leather and dash. Can't really complain, though........getting very excited.

Cheers

Hopefully not too diifferent from the 4200. I love the raw power and feeling of the 4200 and after having driven the Granturismo twice,
feel a little disappointed. I'm told the GS is a blend of both, being the last sports car but more refined that the 4200. Sounds good to me!

Cheers

Emtee - I'd be interested in your impressions of both cars - I feel the 2003 4200CC is a brute of a car, quite violent and certainly requires a lot of attention, especially accelerating hard in Sport mode.
I get the impression after having driven only one other GS that they are a bit softer, more comfortable, quieter and more suited to daily travel than the 4200. Having said that, I think the
GS looks better, has the same or better performance performance and is overall less mongrel (if that's a good thing).

The car is now in Sydney and I'll be flying there tomorrow for a quick look and hopefully I'll have it in Melbourne/Geelong in about 10 days time. Very excited!!

Cheers
Roger
