Afternoon All
Just a quick post to say Hello from another newbie.
After along history of supercar ownership I've just sold the Porsche 911 and "invested" in a 2002 spyder in Blue.
I purchased it through a well known independent dealer and paid top money for it but managed to get my long list of dues and demands including a new F1 gearbox pump and relay, A/C overhaul, full major service and a quality warranty accepted so feeling pretty pleased.
A big thank you to all those who've posted on here over the years as reading your experiences proved invaluable in putting together my list of demands to the dealer.
After owning both an AMV8 and a Lotus I'm very familiar with the concept of alternative parts and was pleased to see that its the same with Maserati.
It never ceases to amaze me how a 20 quid part from a Rover suddenly morphes into a 120 quid part for a Lotus. We owe it to ourselves to continually ferret out alternative parts and it would be great to see,as in the case of AM and Lotus owners clubs, an alternative parts guide book.
I'm currently sat by my pool in the SW of France (81440 St.Julien Du Puy in case you know it!!) and am due to collect the Masser first week of September when I return-no doubt just in time for the heavens to open!!!
I'll add a photo of her on my profile when she arrives but, in the meantime, I'd be keen to meet up with any N. Yorks. owners.

Afternoon Gents (and ladies of course!!)
Thanks for the welcome. I collected the car at the weekend and enjoyed a 170 mile motorway blast back up here.
First impressions-a quick car and although I've read lots of negative comments about scuttle shake - not too bad. True its not as taught as a Porsche, Merc. etc. but that gloroius engine noise drowns out the rattles and shakes on B roads. A client of mine had one of the first 3200's to come into the country and had no end of problems but it looks as though Ferrari has got most of them sorted with the 4200
I've treated it to a new Sat nav disc whilst I'm in the mood to spend money but, apart from having the front nose re-painted to eliminate stone chips later in the year, I cant find anything else - lets hope it continues!!!
One issue I do have is that the glove box lid behind the seats springs open. It looks as though the locking mechinisim is a bit too short as the pin only just catches the lid catch- is there any adjustment?
I'd be quite happy to join a jaunt to Le Mans with you lot. I've not been over for the cars for many years now and am always available for events in the North.
I'll post a piccy of our new addition in due course.
PS I had a new F1 pump fitted as part of the purchase deal and have retained the old one which still works fine. I'm keen to know if its possible for a hydraulic engineering company to overhaul it??
I'm also going to be on the lookout for good independent specialists to maintain her, preferably in the North - does anyone have any leads. I met the guys from Shilltech earlier in the year who seem switched on guys and I can see that mine was serviced in 2012 at Roberts Aerospece near Fareham which I could also use as my head office is based there so I'm always up and down.
Anyway I must sign off now as I need to get back to workto pay for all that fuel I'm going to be using - gas conversion anyone?????????

I would be *very* surprised if not, but I suspect the huge majority of the issues come from the motor, not the actual pump, so you may be better looking for an electromotor specialist.

The pump can be bought quite cheaply.......£180 odd ( hardly worth the refurbing I would have thought)......the Maserati one comes with a little electronic box too.....and its priced around £500?

There aren't big savings to be had......the main one being the garage who does your work charges a 50% mark up on what you could buy them for, might be an idea to try Alan or Ross for a price if getting a whole service kit
