I never tried the 4.2 so can't comment either way, but I imagine it's plenty quick enough, and like you say it's still a stunning car that will get plenty of attention and feel properly special to drive.
Apologies for the late reply on the photos as I've been away, here's a couple of quick pics from a trip to the supermarket this morning - Sport button pressed and windows down all the way
Now that really is a beautiful shade of blue. Never seen it before.
Regarding the 4.2. I've never admitted this before.
If I'm doing forty ish on a small straight A road and I floor it.
The sensation is like if you're on a stallion and he takes off.
All you can do is grip the reins tightly and hang on for dear life.
In the GT. It feels like all you can do is hold onto the steering
wheel and try to keep it pointed between the hedges.
In a couple of moments you're at 100 mph and you know the
car wants more, but you've got to back off, because if anything
pulled out from a side road, you'd be toast.
I miss the days of scramblers, karting and stock cars. After any one
of these, all I'd ever feel like doing on the way home was tootling
along like an OAP out for a Sunday drive. I'd had my adrenaline
rushes off road and felt no need whatsoever to exceed any speed
limits.
A Granturismo in the right colour, like the one above, is like
Scarlett Johansson. Utter perfection that can't be improved upon.
