Hi, I'm new to this forum and to Maserati ownership. Just wondering who else on here is based in Northern Ireland - or Ireland?

There are a few of us in the North but not sure there has ever been a Maserati meet. A few of us turn up at the Lisburn NI Italian Car club meet each year. Not sure about Ireland, there was an Irish Maserati web site but it was never updated much.

Yes was at that show a couple of years ago in my Alfa but I usually work Saturdays so haven't made it since.

I just sold my Auto car to Will who is in Bangor. A really nice gent who loves the motor. He too collected from me in the UK and drove it some 400 plus miles back home on the same day.

Yes, we may not be the most sociable bunch on this side of the Irish Sea, but by gawd, we can do that infamous drive up the M1, M6 and A76(?) to 'the ferry' in our sleep. Literally

Some of our Maseratis know the route M1, M6, M56, A55, Holyhead by themselves.

(Tá mé as Baile Atha Cliath).

Having done both many times I have settled now on going via Dublin. The toll tunnel is great and heading north up the Dublin / Belfast motorway is way better than the A75. Each to their own.

I've been doing the Scottish route since I was twenty, so it's hard wired by now. Plus, when driving a Maser, the temptation to take the scenic route is always there.
But, you're right about the Port Tunnel and M1 to Northern Ireland. With the recently opened Newry by-pass/M1 extension it's a doddle, if yawn inducing. For me, the trouble with going the 'southern route' is that I would be very, very tempted to hit the N25 and veer off to Galway or Cork. Although they have their charms, Gretna and Dumfries don't quite compare ;)
