I sort of did that when trying to find Bruntingthorpe, my SatNav took me in what was a dead end yard full of great potholes, not good at 50mph when you are in a hurry, another guy did exactly the same as me though and we had a laugh about it..!!

I once drove HGV class 1 in between careers, being lost I asked for directions, turn left just after the shell garage... In to a queue of trucks, so far so good... Turns out to be a municipal tip, 2 feet of red mud and I've got a 50ft trailer, my worst driving experience. Doing a 50 point u turn in mud, then getting stuck in the wheel wash.
There I feel better for sharing

He got the car out and it didn't look to suffer massively.

i suspect pride played a part there. A mate egging him on could easily have ended up a bit over committed. I think I'd have give up when the central verge was wiping the GSs nose!
