Not my cup of tea, a bit bright

The only way to get a feel for a car is go and look at it, check the paperwork talk to the seller get a feel for it. If it feels good then carry out any additional checks you feel necessary, HPI, Independent review, talk to previous owners etc and you won't go far wrong.

When you say "get a feel for it," I presume you mean stick it in Sport mode and floor it?

Yah baby!

Seriously though, not everything can be perfect.
My 4200 I bought a year ago ticked all the boxes for me.
Right colour, condition, only two owners and 11.5k mikes.
The only issue was servicing, yes it had been serviced, but the servicing once out of warrantee had been carried out by the owners own garage.
That garage was a Mitsubishi Ralliart Dealer. Spoke to the guys that serviced the car, quickly came to the conclusion that nothing was skimped, the garage owner insisted that everything was done to the book, with all service parts bought from the main Maserati dealer.
As a precaution had a PPI carried out by Maserati main dealer and it came back with no major issues, well an out of alignment washer jet I could live live..
So yes, you can get a feel for it!
