Anyone removed Larini back boxes or H pipe?

Having just been driving lot over the past few days, a lot of it in town, something that has been bothering me has become clearer.

The resonance in the cabin from my back box/H pipe combo has got to the stage that it's become too much. Great on the motorway but too instrusive at low speeds/in town.

I'm thinking the unthinkable about taking one or other part of the car off to see how it goes.

Anyone done this and what would be the relative noise situation if I took of the boxes and left the H pipe or vice versa?

Any advice welcome!

Thanks

Dave...not sure if there s a discussion about this on maseratilife ...will check back, though a resonance in the cabin isn't a problem with them I believe.

Worthwhile checking fitment of same and how its attached to car?

Thanks for that P.

It seems that with only the H pipe the volume is similar to factory with better airflow.
Not fussy about loads of noise - just a bit more that without anything fitted.

Bit confused just now.

Thanks again for your efforts.

Cheers

As Dem says resonance shouldn't be an issue, was in Matts car last year......never truly noticed this.......maybe pm him or Loz,

Dave, I hope the following helps rather than confuses, here goes...
I have a QP with the full Larini system, sports cats, X-pipe, link pipes and back boxes,
when the system was first fitted, I thought it was a tad too loud,
so I had the X-pipe removed and replaced with the OEM part...
after a couple of months, I reversed this back to the full Larini system.
I know we have different cars and slightly different parts, but just wanted to relay
my experience...I should also mention that as part of the service I had back in November
the system was found to have a couple of loose connections and leaking a little so this was
all put right...as P mentions, might be worth checking...At the end of the day if you find it is
intrusive inside the cabin, then best to get it rectified...I think you woul be able to have part
of the system replaced, then take it for a test drive to see how it sounds/feels and then try
swapping out another part to see if it is better/worse...hope you get it sorted,
Regards,
Enzo.

I would make sure all the rubber brackets are ok first, if you have metal to metal contact , that will cause resonance,

Could well be a good option to keep the centre H section and revert back to std back boxes, or you could also try some Gransport valved Back boxes ( ive got a spare pair in the garage ive been intending to put up forsale ) complete with valves , im sure shiltech could fit the solenoid/vacuum pipe needed to make them operational , its actually quite easy , quite happy Dave for you to borrow them as an option and try them out , that way you have the option to turn it off when need be

Loz

Thanks. First port of call may be to take off the back boxes leaving the H.

Many thanks for the potential offer of the valved boxes to try. May take you up on that in due course.

Dave, i've got Larini cats, x box and straight through rear pipes. No resonance. Mind you, I can hear feck all with the noise it makes, apart from the ringing in my ears! Maybe the way to go.

Phil, you ought to get yours done too. At cruising speeds the sound is very subdued but give it the beans and even my missus smiles and that takes some doing! Well worth doing, especially for the spyder.

Benny i have put some loud back boxes on and i must admit she makes proper noise now which i like and as most of the time just me in the car so no worries of others finding it tiresome.
Just wish we had some tunnells in Somerset haveing said that multi storey car parks are good as she scares the elderly and makes small children cry.
We will see how she gets on at DMS as im doing the dyno runs as well.
Phil.
