added with lack of quality control from the chinese
I posted far back in this thread about health care in the US. It's not as bad as people think, but does have room for improvement. That being said our attempt at improvement (Obama Care) was a disaster. Buried within the bill that had to be passed to find out what was in it, was a 2.3% tax on all medical devices. Production immediately went to China. A lot of the problems with PPE, ventilators, etc. can be attributed to Nancy Pelosi and her cronies passing that abortion in the dead of night. The US was therefore ill prepared for the Wuhan Flu.

Global cases
Updated 29 Apr at 1:51 PM local
Confirmed
3,116,398
+74,634

Deaths
217,153
+5,986

Recovered
928,658
+34,691

So that's a global death rate of nearly 7%.......twice the estimated.

What's more it means 1,970,587 Or 63% are still suffering, potentially still contagious, (potentially still able to catch it again) and are neither dead, nor recovered.

These 63% are not able to contribute to society or the economy. That's a lot of people who may have had their bodies damaged by this virus and who are effectively in a state of limbo.

I keep hearing Uk mainstream prattling on about reducing numbers in Europe and the curve flattening. Given that everyone is in virtual "lockdown" across Europe I fail to understand why this is such a great thing. That is the obvious result of banning social contact- isn't it?
No contact= reduced spread.

The problem is clear. These numbers are going to rise the minute you cease the "lockdown". It's really the continuation of the first infection, fancilly called the "second wave".

There is no way to avoid this second wave.
It is impossible to stop (without vaccinating the entire planet) for as long as one unidentified infected individual exists (or few hundred), it will spread to thousands eventually (probably quite quickly if no masks are being worn! What is Hancock thinking....are you telling me the tube will reopen and no-one will be encouraged to wear masks?)- so they may as well just get on with it and unleash it asap.

No further lockdowns, Minimise economic damage and keep fingers crossed "herd immunity" turns out to exist.

Otherwise, there will be an unlimited number of waves and a dire economic situation will become catastrophic.

There is no way to avoid this as ze Germans are discovering.

But what about all the infected but untested/unconfirmed? Your quoting figures about as reliable as China’s!

Ok so Trump's off the hook for the US's response to "Wuhan" (very telling) flu.

Four more years then...

Why are we STILL letting people fly into Heathrow etc and not requiring them to self isolate? Some are coming in from New York, Italy and China for Christ's sake.

Yeah i find it a little bizzare , when even the East African countries have mostly all shut their national and regional airports

I’m quoting figures from those known tested and in the process.
Your point about infected but untested/unconfirmed is a complete unknown , which furthers the point that the lockdown is a complete a waste of time.

If the comments above are accurate re Heathrow it makes a mockery of it too.

Unless you have 100% accuracy on everyone you’re pi55ing in the wind.

Duh, so the mortality percentage is a complete unknown too, but let’s quote it anyway just to spread more misinformation. It could only ever be right if everybody infected has been tested and confirmed, which clearly they have not been by a large multiple

If you read my post it’s not focussed on anything in particular. It simply quotes the known figures available dead, recovered and in between and suggests that “lockdown” is futile.
Do you agree or do you think the lockdown is worthwhile?

This is not in any way an accurate death rate to comapre to the original estimates. Death rate is nowhere near 7%. The death rate can only really be the proportion of those with coronavirus that die, not the proportion of those tested/confirmed that die! Obviously the latter metric would be massively variable and skewed by country and testing regime (if you don't test/confirm, you can't record recovery).

An interesting article.
Sorry, you quote a mortality percentage that is wrong, the experts would say by a large margin. Unless you are focussed on deaths in relation to tested and confirmed, which is truly meaningless. So why post it? It’s wrong. Surely you knew it was wrong?

And no, I don’t believe the lockdown was futile and actually has achieved the objective of slowing the rate of infection so that the NHS has had the ability to treat and cure more people. Without the lockdown, there surely would have been even more critical cases and deaths already and the NHS would have been more overwhelmed, and continued to be overwhelmed for a longer period of time.
