On my car have have a VIN number ending in approx 3400 and a "Code Number of Spare Parts" on the Vehicle ID plate (under the bonnet) of approx 4600. Is this the number from which I should figure out its age? It was UK registered in May 2001 and was built on the same production line as the Asseto Corsa (according to HR Owen).

Can anyone tell me if the Assetto Corsa was built only from 2001 and can I be sure my car is a 2001 model?

Thanks

Maserati UK can tell you when the car was built. It's a 5 min call and if you havent done so already, it'll probably be an interesting call.

In what way "interesting"? How old the car actually is as opposed to when it was first registered?

Yeah, that. And also they'll be able to tell you pretty much the exact spec.

I got in touch when I was looking and thought all the information was interesting - they told me when mine was built, when production stopped, what interior options mine had (and what option were available at the time and how much they cost)....just generally interesting stuff for a Maserati obsessive.

Interesting stuff, good idea to contact Maserati concerning the full original specs, think I will give that a whirl, good to keep with the car documentation.
