At last I hear you cry

It's kicked in a number of times over the weekend. From almost entering the M6 sideways, to a third gear hammering earlier.
I can't wait till we have some dry roads, so I can put it through its paces with a bit more liberal usage of my right foot!

I love the interior colour. It's so different from the norm.

Very well done - a lovely colour combination.

So, that just leaves Birdcage as the only non-Maser owner on the forum. Can't understand what's taking him so long to congratulate you!

I bet you can't get the smile off your face

I've owned fast cars but until I bought the XK8 I'd never owned a car that made me just stand outside and stare at it

Congratulations,,, that interior one of the nicest colours and not seen too often on the coupes... I must admit I've enjoyed following your search threads over many months ...you must be delighted...

However, I am seriously disappointed you didn't post the news of your purchase as a Newbie..... under a pseudonym .... you could have kept that going till the 11th without anyone guessing it was you with the new car ....

See you at the Ace...

Congratulations Mark, glad you got one in the end, looks a lovely car. I've seen it a few times and remember it being a nice looking example.

Just like to say thank you guys for all of the comments and PM's wishing me well, it's very humbling to know that so many people take the time to do that.
Just goes to show what a nice bunch there is on the forum. Obviously there's always the odd 'Birdbrained' exception.

Thanks guys.

You have to kiss a lot of frogs..
Congrats. Hope you have much enjoyment

To be fair I saw a lot of frogs (absolute heaps!).
Have had loads of enjoyment in the last two days.
In fact now the roads seem to have dried out this morning, might take her for a blast at lunch! :D

Out of interest Mark, did you find it easy to walk away from the other cars you looked at before finding the right one..? Reason I ask is the very thought of going to look at any Maser with a view to buying is already tying my stomach in knots but (in a nice way). I had a very quick shuftie at a QPV before Christmas which was a real head turner, but the gaps in the paperwork put me off. The come down on the journey in to work afterwards was in complete contrast to the excitement I'd built up on the way to see it! In a way I worry that I may still end up buying a wrong 'un by getting over excited when going to see a particular car, sounds daft I know but I've made that mistake In the past with a few older classic motors.

I suppose the best advice I can give is go to one of the meets. Then you can see what a good Maser looks like.
After that you have a good idea of what you are after. Bearing in mind my car is a 2003, so to be honest the difference between a good and bad one is absolutely huge!
The one I looked at before I bought mine, it was in such a bad condition that I didn't even bother test driving it because I knew I wasn't going to buy it.

Walking away is much easier when you know what is a good one and what is bad one.
To be fair the first one I looked at I loved, but there were a few things I didn't like, and knew I couldn't live with. So I walked away.
Most of the cars I've ever bought have always been with the heart, however, buying a Maser I had to employ some of the stuff between my ears as buying a bad one can be a very costly mistake.
Have patience the right one will come along.

Cheers Mark, good advice!

In hindsight, if I added up everything I've spent on various classic Minis and Rovers over the years I'd have enough to buy a very tidy and usable Maser by now! The more exotic stuff like Boras, Meraks etc are well out of my league now but a well looked after QPV at the right price will satisfy my craving for something with a trident on the front. If I were in a position to pounce on a good one that was for sale privately it'd be done and dusted by now, but I need to trade in at least one of my current motors to make it happen so as you say I guess I'll just have to be patient.

At least I've stopped looking at Porsches on Autotrader...!

Get to the Orchard and Ace on the 11th Feb. You'll see plenty of good Masers.
if you go to The Orchard, you at least get to see (and hear) them in the day light.
