hi guys - just need some advice as to what products to use to keep the trim clean? want something that help keep leather supple (nice smell if possible) butmost of all is effective at getting any stains/dirt marks off the leather.

Also want to know how best to prevent the wear on the side bolster (drivers side)

any pointers appreciated

Thanks

Marcus

Hi Marcus, I use Zymol leather cleaner on mine. I think you can get it from Halfrauds. Seems to work very well without any nasty ingredients. The bolster is a difficult one, and mine is pretty shabby. I'm shortly going to get it collonised and have accepted this will be an annual expense.

I use the complete kit as supplied by Woolies of Market Deeping. If you supply a small sample of leather to them for colour match they will send a solution which rubs in without that 'painted-on' look together with a liquid cleaner and a finishing cream. [All for around £40].
My interior is avorio and the result was excellent.

Hi John, Nice to see you at the weekend. Is the woolies a filler type cream? Will it fill cracked leather or is it for smaller blemishes? Cheers, Miles.

I bought the Wollies kit after sending off a sample and repainted my drivers seat last summer, the results were very good but I really need to get it done professionally as some of the piping is split. I found the best way to prevent damage is to cover the seat and stop wearing jeans in the car as its the rivets that cause most of the damage. Take time getting in and out.

The colour component is a liquid which is applied by a cloth [supplied in the kit] - no fillers involved. I've done the treatment on areas where the 'damage' was slight and on a previous car where more applications were required. On both cars the side bolsters were the parts that needed attention. As Frank has kindly mentioned the current car was excellent anyway but a little of the restorer just brought it back to 'nearly' new.
Woolies do say that the stuff works on more major problems - e.g. my 3200 needed several goes to blend in with the rest of the seat. The 4200 only had minor colour loss.

P.S. Hope you enjoy your trip to Italy.
J.

I took my leather sample from under the rear arm rest, there is loads of spare leather dangling down under it, about half a cow I think. You only need a few centimeter square cut to get the colour match.

So did I!
The material should be clean and original from this location and a small amount [2 thumbnails] won't be missed either. The leather is just pulled up from the space between the rear seats.

This is all ok for the seat faces....but the remainder is leatherette type material....need to be careful what you apply to what!

That's right Frank. However Woolies do offer a 'Leathercloth' kit as well.

[BTW, I have no connection with this firm!]

We believe you....;).......yes, read on Maseratilife where they damaged the leatherette by using some products....don't ask me which product....so be careful with dashboard, door panels, rear parcel shelf etc.....if in doubt ask!!!!

Parisien - thanks for pointing that out.....thought it was all the same material. so basically i need other products to clean dashboard, door panels, rear parcel shelf etc

Was going to ask the same...Had a vision of a MAerati with a chunk of leather missing from one seat....
IIRC, there's usually a little extra at the bottom towards the rear of the seats.

I've not read the whole thread but I used Gliptone Liquid Leather Cleaner and then Gliptone Liquid Leather Conditioner, the latter gives it a great scent. Not sure if its all that good on worn bolsters though, I'd be interested to see a before/after of one of the colouring solutions mentioned.
