Remember the barn find 'S3 Lambo Espada on Jonny Smith's 'Late Brake Show'...? It's been cleaned up, auctioned and bought for £25k plus commission...

Congratulations to the Mike new owner and there will be more updates to come - top stuff!

Saw that. Think Smith himself must have been tempted at that price.
I do like how it went at a provincial, house clearance auction, completely below the radar of the "car investors" and bought by someone like one of us.
It's MOTd and running around in Cumbria already

Why on earth would you sell a car like that at a general auctioneers?
Seems a strange decision in this day and age,but my mum and I did exactly that with a pull handle ‘63 MGB about thirty years ago and we doubled our money. It went for £9k.

Yeah, a friend of mine works for Mitchell's Auctioneers of Cockermouth that sold it (he tipped me off), a strange auction house to sell it if you ask me, but they do specialise in house clearances so maybe that's the connection, a local bloke from Workington (Mike) bought it. I did go and see it and it honestly didn't look bad.
There is a thread elsewhere on this car ;)
Pleased to see its on the up, not seen it around yet though.

I think if you were looking for an Espada you would know about it no matter who was auctioning it. So really makes no difference.

Complicated story behind the car, if you watch both YouTube videos.
But it was part of a probate sale of an estate, the deceased uninterested in cars and never considered he really owned the car, it was stored on his property for decades and never collected. He considered scrapping it while alive. Seems estate inheritors not interested in cars either.

Just glad it's been saved and hopefully will be used.
Harry Metcalf spent over 30,000 big ones getting his engine rebuilt.
Looking forward to the next video on this car.
