I have a Sante Fe 7 seat premium. Fantastic, bought new for £22k off Internet dealer, in 2011. It doesn't compare to disco, particularly if you need 7 adult seats, but it is by far the next best thing in terms of rear seats, space in general. Drove to Rome last year with 4 kids in... Completely reliable, can do 40+ mpg .....when the wife drives it! And at that price was a good 10k cheaper than the next rival a basic spec XC90 or X5. Latest model seems to have jumped in price though.

I agree the Santa Fe is a good deal and you right...the new model prices have crept up to just over £30k I am sure when I looked with a couple of options on the top model. Would rather have a 3 year old Disco 4 I think for that money.

My daily driver is a 2006 7 seater Merc E55 estate. Just had a smaller supercharger pulley and a remap done to leave it with about 570bhp. does 23mpg on the motorway at sensible "slightly quicker" than average motorway speeds.

Cost me about 11k 2 years ago, now has 140k on the clock, looks like a belgian taxi, performance (other than handling) is pretty much level pegging with my (lovely newly acquired) 4200 manual and my previous 520bhp Merc C63. It is a truly hilarious experience in a big old barge.

Needless to say, I'd recommend one, provided you don't care about it being a little less than current.
