Now the sun is out I have a few more photos of my car since its detail last week....

I think I need some tips on lighting Miles/Adam as I went out too early today, sun too low in the sky.

great pictures andrew, are they edted?? Lighting looks ok i think but to reduce the intensity of the sun light then either change the camera setting to an outdoor mode or just reduce the light intensity, this makes the lense darker and shields/blocks the sunlight out.

I am going to the horse shoe pass in wales on saturday, doing a photoshoot of a renault clio v6, should be a good day.

Andrew,
A friend of mine that is an architectural photographer (he has tried taking photos of cars as well) said the best time of day to take photos of a car is first thing in the morning or last thing in the day.
The trick, so he reckons, is that the lighting level is high enough to illuminate the subject matter; however direct sunlight is not falling directly on the car.
Bright spots, dark spots and reflections are reduced (although this can be reduced with a polarising filter).
I tried this on some photos of my Alfa Romeo for an advertisement and it did look a lot better than the shots I had taken earlier in sunlight.
All that said; your photos look great but more to the point so does your car!

Adam, the horseshoe pass is just down the road from me. If the weather's nice, might I be able to pop down to meet you? What time are you about?
