Bits falling off my GTS!

I went for a drive today and came back to find that one of the washer covers under the headlight was missing leaving an unsightly hole on the bumper!

I'm assuming others have had this issue. Is it easy/cheap to buy a replacement that is colour matched, and if so, are there any links to order online, or do I have to go through the dealer?

I had a similar thing happen to my side indicator when I used the power hose, it just connected back in and was actually loose from when the detailer had the car.

The ones for the GS / 4200 were about £50 including painting at Dick Lovett.

Two man job for fitting, one to activate the wash function the other to grab the hose arm as it pops out of the bumper...then it just clips on.

Man two should dress appropriately.....

Mine came off after collecting the car after a respray. Apparently it is a common problem on the GTS. Thankfully they are replacing the cover FOC.

Frankly, C, it's a wonder those two get round to fixing cars with that sort of behaviour going on.

Sham83 - sorry to hear about that. Had you been using the headlight washers at any point while you were driving? I wonder if they're more prone to falling off if they're out rather than when they're just sitting idle.

Good luck for a fast and cheap fix. Sounds like it should be both.

honestly I haven't even tried to figure out how to use the headlight washer, not something I think to even use! I don't see the washer mechanism in there actually so looks like that option wasn't put in I think, unless its missing if you tell me it's a standard feature! just googling it, this does seem a common problem, very annoying.

They work automatically when the headlights are on. I've seen the spray coming over the bonnet so mine work. I suspect part of the issue is that they still do it at speed so the wind resistance is part of the problem.

It happened a lot on the 4200 but with the GranTurismo the washers are programmed not to work over something like 75mph so it is not too common. So you either need to speed up or if you are near but below the cut off turn the lights off for a second as you wash the screen.

I didn't try to wash my screen while driving yesterday so not sure why it would have popped out...

Some manufacturers make headlight wash function every 6th windscreen wash. That would make changing it interesting!

I just got a quote from an indie for 140 quid including painting and fitting - does that sound right? seems a bit steep for a little part!

quote: "The part on its own is about £40 plus VAT. It then needs to be primered and painted and lacquered and then fitted."

Assuming that includes VAT it seems like a confident price but if they do a good job and get the colour right it's probably ok.

Yes, that doesn't seem too bad to me also. If it does include VAT, the part is £40, their labour and paint costs is £77 leaving £23 for VAT so they're not going to be making much on that job

£50 supplied and painted for a GS so I would say that is way too much!
