Looking at the advert and description it looks like the usual suspects have been repaired quite recently. Could get away with only needing to spend £2k and that could be spread over a month or two.

That's my line of thought aswell lol

Decision time????
Having called it a "dog" earlier on in the thread perhaps now I'd be tempted, I'd just have a niggle at the back of my mind having not seen it, or had a trusted soul look at it.

Is there anyone around Lanarkshire that would pop up and give it an eye up for obvious problems?

The RAC would do you a comprehensive report for £300, plus a verbal one as soon as the inspection is completed.
Some would argue that they are not Maserati experts, but i had one, it highlighted a few problems, which were confirmed once I'd purchased it and then had a free health check from Graypaul. The only difference was that Graypaul were able to give accurate repair costs.
The RAC report captured pretty much every scratch and ding which had I not seen the car could have been off putting.
Is there a Mas specialist in the area? some of these are happy to do pre purchase inspections.

on these cars id use a specialist, AA are good for run of the mill but not these....a specialist will be able to tell you when something is due and how much

Hi Chaps,
Sorry I have been quiet, busy!!
The question I asked was, if he bought it for around £12K from down south and now it's in Glasgow for £14K (after he reduced it), is that just profit, or has he done some special things with the car? Fair Question??? Started getting a bit personal, so I asked him why he lied about the Red Key to a prospective buyer, then the abuse got worse. He has an auto reject on all offers below £13K, personally at that mileage and non Maserati servicing in recent times, I would only offer him £11.5K tops. It needs new rear boots which is around £600 and due to service history I would have to go for a major service, another £1K possibly. You still have a car that has done 68K??
Cheers

Hmmm... Hodroyd I like to know who I'm dealing with and can be quite fussy if I'm honest...
Would you mind pm'ing me the whole email if you don't want to post it on the forum as I was considering this car but would be happier knowing the convo you've had with him, I am quite good if I do say so myself , in reading people from what they "say" or in the case of email what they type .
I haven't made my offer yet but I was planning to Monday.

Thanks

Hi Cobratwin,

Sorry mate I got so annoyed with this twit I deleted them. I don't lower myself to the level of a neanderthal for anybody and this guy was a plonker. Realistically I think he is just in it for as much as he can get out of it, does not care what he says to people, so long as he get's a sale. When I confronted him with the lie, he said "I thought they meant the code card", he was clearly asked if it had a red key and he said yes?? I don't mind anybody trying to make a few bob at car trading, but I think he is taking the mick when he adds on £2.5K to the price he paid, now he is reducing the car a bit as he wants his money back and is struggling.
If you are interested in the car with that high mileage, it is worth what you think it is. He has an auto decline at £13K or under, so if you are happy paying £13K, offer that, or £13,001. Remember you will need tyres!!
Originally he told me he might accept £13.5, that's a £1500 bonus for driving it to Glasgow.
Best of luck with your decision.
Cheers

Hi Hodroyd,
Thanks for the reply m8. Something I need to think about Im in no rush and it's something I'd like right rather than something I want Now, so I'm not particularly worried if I do or don't get this one. Actually fook it not gonna bother with this car hen the right one comes along it will be a smooth and easy decision.

I am looking just like you and there quite a few out there. Personally, I would not buy from this guy if I had a choice, which I have. The car is high mileage, with iffy service history and worn out rear tyres and Dunlop SP Sports on the front. He wants a lot of money for the car in my opinion and due to him being a total prat, I have pulled out anyway.

Is 68k high miles for a 2005 ....I know lots do not use their Maserati everyday but for me a well used well, well looked after and well serviced example with higher miles would pull me in more than a garage Queen..These cars are built to be used......OK there is some question on this car but don't be put off by cars with 50/60/70k on the clock...You just have to look at Toomanyhorses 68k face lift 4200 to see how good these cars are.....(Not know its had a crash mind you)
