Dude, that's awesome.

Looks like the paint has been removed using a DA?

Love that original shade of blue, will look great when finished.

That does look like a whole lot of work, good luck! It will be well worth the effort in the end. The Bora was the first Maserati that really caught my eye, a guy had a red one in the town I grew up in, I thought it was a Ferrari until my father corrected me (I was about 8 at the time), lovely car.

Robin, you know I am a massive fan and waiting for you to complete this then bring it to an SM meet and blow me away.

That one down in Cornwall went in the end, well, its not being advertised anymore, I still think about it, but its alot of money to have tied up in an occasional car.....which I am sure you know with all these restoration costs.

As soon as its done, let me know.

Whats the plan with the rust (albeit very little) you going get replacement panels, treat it or cut it out and make repair patches?

Wow Robin, that looks like a formidable challenge, but if there's any car worth persevering with, then it's the Bora. What's the engine like? Please do keep us posted as to progress?

Will do.

Either replacement panels or cut it out and let new metal in as appropriate.

The engine is fine (fingers crossed) it was rebuilt by the previous owner and I had the gearbox done a few years ago. It also has also had a top end rebuild in my ownership after a head gasket failure so all pretty sound.

Will do!

Oh that's good. One rather large box ticked. Where did you find the car? Don't see them come up very often.

When I was looking back in 1998 I contacted Andy Heywood at Bill McGrath's and he started looking out for a RHD Bora for me. (A Ghibli was also a possibility if the right car came up first). The car I bought was the second RHD car to come up for sale (the first was going to cost more than the asking price to sort out). So it has been with me nearly 13 years now.

...a rather long gestation period then...................:)...!

It has had lots of use between now and then. It has been back home to the Maserati factory twice, all over Spain and Portugal and has travelled as far as Budapest amongst other trips in the last 13 years.

Hi,

Finally made it to see Shane yesterday, looks like it will take longer to finish than I thought. Shane reckons the car will be finished towards the end of the year or beginning of 2012 but I am sure it will be worth the wait.

Regards,

Robin
