Bouncing gauge displays?

A QP owner asked a question last night, in a Maserati Fbk group and it's got me curious.
He said that when he puts his foot on the brake to start the car. The needles on the gauges bounce around.
I'm guessing that this is as far as he takes it. Not wanting to compound an issue, already present.
This is all the information he shared. Last time I looked. Nothing about precise model, year, or anything else.

Has anyone come across this? Or based on the scant information, be able to suggest a few things to check?

Obviously, I suggested he pay an exorcist to excise whatever demon now possessed his car.
For some reason though. He dismissed this out of hand. Vindication would be nice :auto62:

I saw the post. Was it a V or a VI? I know some cars do sweep the gauges. I sort of wondered if that was what he meant

A few years back when the battery was duff on my QPV, I’d have the key in the ignition and turn to the accessory position - and the dash gauge needles would vibrate rapidly for a few seconds… the car wouldn’t start, and the key wouldn’t come out of the ignition barrel. I can dig out the video I took of this happening if it helps @UlstermanAbroad ?

No need to dig out the video. You've described it beautifully.
I think he put in a new battery and all is now right in the world ;)
Appreciate all the comments gentlemen.
