Brake disc replacement - am I being paranoid or is this normal?

Not sure what’s going on but thought I would seek the insight of those more experienced than me with regards to servicing and repairs of a Gran Turismo.

Finally managed to get my car (2013 GTS) booked in to get Zep’s front brake upgrade fitted. Garage I picked is an Indy about 45 mins up the road from me, and I have used them once before to fix a seat issue and have an X pipe fitted. Not Maserati specialist, but an ex Ferrari tech who has loads of reassuringly expensive cars parked up when I dropped mine off
(FF, Daytona etc). Told it would take 2-3 hours, I elected to go home rather than wait.

Phone call at the end of the day- we can’t bleed the brakes, it won’t be done today. No problems- second day we took it out for a road test but “the brake pedal isn’t right”.

Weekend means no fix but I call them this morning to be told “we think the callipers need a rebuild kit, won’t be today” which has been followed up by “we can’t find the kit and our usual suppliers might have it back in stock at the end of the week”.

I have no way of going down and taking a look for myself, and my paranoia is that something that wasn’t meant to happen has happened. But I might be getting myself worked up over nothing. So- is this par for the course with a 10 year old Italian car or am I right to be worried?

Sounds a bit odd tbh.. think I’d be taking it to an Indy of it was me. I had Zep’s uprated front and rears fitted by Aldous @ AV last year. No issues. Mine’s a 2010 car with 70,000 miles.
BTW, get braided hoses fitted whilst you’re at it.. made a huge difference to pedal feel on mine!

Yes I read your post which is why I also opted for some braided hoses - lord knows when I’ll get it back but I hope it has the same effect for me!
Unfortunately there aren’t many (any) Maserati Indys in Yorkshire and I didn’t fancy the trip across the Pennines to Auto Shield. That was probably a lazy choice on my part!

I don't think there's anything special about Maserati brakes but caliper rebuild should fix the issue, it might be superfluous though. Ask him if he had uneven braking and if it was pulling to one side on braking or if the pedal just felt spongy.

They are a bit of a pain to bleed properly.
Also, the inner bleed nipples (there are two) on each caliper are prone to being corroded and seizing and can be easily sheared off.... Ask me how I know lol..
Also, the hard pipe connections where your new braided lines will connect, are also prone to corroding and getting damaged on removal.
I wonder if something similar has happened to yours.
You'd like to think they'd just be honest about it though.
