Brake Rotor Thickness

I was measuring the thickness of my rotors, and I was wondering if anyone could confirm the new out-of-the-box thickness? My service history indicates the rotors have been skimmed previously, so I can't know for sure if my measurements are correct, combined with multiple different claims in various threads I'm a bit uncertain as to the exact OEM specification.

Front Rotor Thickness: I've measured 30mm on mine at the lip. I've seen claims that OEM is both 30mm and 32mm.

Rear Rotor Thickness: I measured 27mm at the lip, though a standard rotor would normally be 28mm or 30mm.

Cheers

Thanks. Like I said, I've seen variously 30 and 32 cited for the front, and 28-32 for the rear. Are those the values you used on the group buy rotors?

It’s 32 front 28 rear. Max wear is 2mm on both. Post 7 on the link is the one you want.

Right now my pride and joy is more my pain and suffering, but among many things in its trip to be a source of pride and joy is a brand new set of brakes. I'm designing my own brakes so I can get past the problems with the OEM set. I needed to confirm the caliper maximum fitment as the caliper itself is fine and I want to keep OEM fitment. I'm at step one which is creating a clearance model to as an envelope for any variations I make going forward to ensure OEM tolerances are met. The image below is just getting started, but I couldn't accurately confirm the thickness without a new rotor on hand. I'm just going off what I read online which isn't always correct.

Unfortunately I pay in dollarydoos so everything costs literally double.

If you mean the forum set that is cross-drilled, that is one of the defects I'm getting away from. If you mean the 2-piece rotors, when Zep messaged me they're fronts only and I don't know the rotor mounting PCD.

I'm not 100% settled on my plan, but right now I want to make my own hats to a standard rotor PCD used by Wilwood so that I can use any one of a dozen rotors in the future. They also have rotors with the correct annulus to clear the brake shoes to make a matched pair for the rear. I'm cross-referencing the PCD with other rotor suppliers as well so that I can cross brands in the future so that I can completely escape being locked into a single supply chain, and completely free from batch availability. I'm 50:50 on removing the handbrake altogether for that reason and moving to a caliper handbrake.

Once I get all the fitment details together I'll share it. I made a searchable version of the DBA catalogue so I found a bunch of rotors that are direct off the shelf replacements for the OEM front - not no such luck for the rear.

Also, its just fun sometimes to fix things.
