Cambiocorsa gearbox fault ?

Hello all, I'm hoping you all can help me.
I've got 2009 Maserati granturismo S mc-shift 30k FSH

I Went on a long drive today and was sat in solid traffic for an hour or so, I parked up for 30 minutes or so, when I came back to the car, I turned the ignition on and started the car the symbol of a “car with bonnet up†came on and when driving a message: “check transmission go to dealer†the car won't go above 2nd gear and is in a limp/safe mode.

I've looked in all the Manuals and it says either an auto gearbox fault or the transmission fluid is too hot.

I drove the car home and parked her up. Has anyone experienced this before?

Many thanks

Lee

Disconnect the battery negative (or just cut if off if you have the cut off installed on yours) for 30 mins and see what happens. The check transmission fault can mean lots of things but it can also just be a software glitch. At 30k miles you could be experiencing clutch issues around now, especially after a long, hot drive in traffic so if the clearing doesn't work, I'd suggest you have a clutch or clutch release bearing issue starting to show itself.

Thank you, how or where will I find the cut off switch ?

Are you sure the bonnet is shut? Worth checking plus the battery reset as suggested above.

I'll double check it first thing in the morning. I'll check the bonnet and I'll try and re set the battery

This is what I'm getting....

Definitely gearbox fault indicator. Unfortunately, to know definitively what it is you need someone with a scan tool to scan it.

Looks ominous, but when it says 'dealer', which type?

I'd do the battery reset method. Did you have any issues before the hours standstill?

Does the pump still prime when you unlock and open the drivers door?

Does it sound good or is the note changing like its struggling?

Also have a look round under the rear for any signs of leaking. It is quite easy to knock the F1 fluid cooler.

Although the light looks like a picture of a car with its bonnet/boot open, I think it is meant to be a picture of a gearbox and the poking out bit is the gearstick (which of course F1 gearboxes don't have!).

In any case, the light is on because the TCU has encountered a fault. The prudent way forward is to find out what the fault is and if it is worth worrying about.

Gents, So I got in the car as normal, The fault was still on the dash, started it and left it to warm up for 10 mins.
I left it in auto, sport off and The fault cleared as I pulled off. The car is driving perfectly again and is changing gear in auto and Mc shift smoothly as it was.

This is my first Maserati, is there any musts I should know about starting it, letting it warm up, certain amount of time before using it in sport/MC Shift?

I don't think it'll go into MC mode unless it's properly warmed up will it?

Otherwise I'd suggest
Start
Drive
Wait until normal operating temp before revving the nuts off it (I like to keep it below 3.5k, but that's me) and dropping in Sport.

Oh and there's a trick to making it less lumpy on start off. But it doesn't apply to the pedestrian 4.2s so one of the MC brigade will be along shortly.

But that's my suggestion.

The only thing you need to do is hold the key just before cranking position until all the lights go out. If you do this you will be amazed at how well it then manoeuvres at low speed. If you don’t do this it’s very jerky.

When I learnt this from Nareman at Nuvola, I was suitably amazed.
Now I get in, switch the ignition in, put the seat belt on (whilst the car does it’s thing and the lights go out) and off I go - smooth as silk.
I am guessing it’s doing some sort of clutch alignment or something.

I do the “switch ignition on, slowly pump accelerator pedal three times, start†method. I'm still astonished the difference it makes to smooth changes from start.

In respect of MC-Shift warm-up, I went to the High St Xmas light turn-on in early Dec, freezing cold and hadn't driven for a while, thought I'd take a spin after. A good 10 minutes driving before I could get the MC-shift light to activate.

Pumping the throttle will do nothing unless you have Weber carbs on yours.

I'm quite aware that it does nothing other than provide my foot with something to do while I wait the required time...

Love it was hoping you were the first to have put 4 downdraught carbs on and was getting excited to ask for a picture.
