Apple air tag isnt GPS as such. Its bluetooth short range from your own phone but uses any nearby apple phones as a network to upload the tag location to ICloud. Nothing is stored on the tag. So even if it is found on a car its going to be difficult to trace the culprits that were planning on robbing the car.

Very similar to Tiles. It's amazing there isn't a court case.....

Oh! Hang on! ;)

I read that ios notifies you if it picks up a tracking device that is not linked to the phone.

Yes but of course only IoS, not Android. The tags don't even identify themselves as tags in their BT profiles, they just have (changing) BT addresses, which is pretty irresponsible. So for Android users concerned about being tracked they need to see which BT devices seems to be hanging around. Presumably there will be an App for that pretty soon.

I think we’re safe. Who steals maseratis anyway?
The scrotes have no interest in them at all, they are just after sporty VAG/BMW/Merc/Ford stuff, plus landrover/range rovers. In fact you’re more likely to have a standard fiesta nicked than a quattroporte/granturismo.
Hope I don’t live to regret that statement……but im pretty sure that stats back it up.

Hmmm......

said it before, just a load of bollox tech that is'nt really needed and just creates more problems, rather like keyless fiasco, should go back to the good old days of anti theft devices
