Guys,

I need your opinions as an initial sounding board?
I might be getting the opportunity to get a number of gransport interior or exterior components made to fit the GS and my question is this?

  • What parts would you like to see made.

  • What would you be prepared to pay for them knowing that if I get these tooled up I need to recover costs and carbon fibre is not cheap.

  • These will be prepared by a famous maserati race team incase yor interested in knowing the quality

  • We might be able to spread it to other models later if the interest was sufficent but its clearly easier to start with my own car as I can generate moulds from this.

I am not looking to become a manufacturer but simply interested in a few pieces for myself and wondered if anyone else was like minded it would help spread the costs and its cost that I am interested in recovering.

I would be interested in the boot spoiler and door trim bits.

Naturally, the CF weave would need to match the weave of the factory bits.

I already have aftermarket CF paddles, which match up perfectly.

See first pic, or are you referring to stock paddles?

If you could photo shop pics of the stock paddles alongside pics of those 360 ones i put up that would be great , ive a sneaky feeling thee one and the same

360 and 4200 Paddle mounting are definately different.

I agree with JP, quality of Carbon Fibre can vary immensely, its not just about the carbon fibre itself, but the quality of finishing afterwards (Laquer, polishing etc).

Ive seen some great carbon fibre from Japan and Germany but also some very shocking quality items aswell. Ive even had to reject a shipment due to the poor quality of the CF, which i wasnt happy to pass onto customers.

One other thing to bear in mind is that, are the parts made fully of CF or just the original part covered in CF!

Thanks

+1

These are the guys I worked with on the MCV replica paddle group buy in the US.

http://www.valenceusa.com/about.htm

Amazing product, but a painfully slow turnaround time and they are not the easiest to pin down. Their product however was A+.

Valence USA products have great quality, ive seen a few of their items, and their stuff is really very good.

My only grumble with them is that their pricing is a little high. We sell comparable paddles for the 360 for just under £300, thats a top quality product from Japan. If you compare that to $750 from Valence USA then their pricing does comeout a little steep.

They ran a GB on ML a while back and im sure they would do the same for the UK contingent if someone asked nicely.

Thanks

I initiated that group buy on MaseratiLife and attempted to do so here...but,as you will see, they have been slow to react.

http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/167-MC-Victory-Carbon-Fiber-Paddle-Shifters-for-4200CC-GS-QP

They are VERY good at what they do, but to give them the benefit of the doubt, they must be severely stretched! They haven't even posted the display picture above of the MCV paddle on their website (which has been static since last summer).

I'd love to get them involved.

If the Japanese source you are talking about is M/A Carbon, I tried to work with them but they weren't interested and said they had other projects going on and their focus was Ferrari.

If there is still interest in the paddles, per Valence's post in the above thread they will do a group buy at $450 per set (~£293 at today's exchange rate).

I am not affiliated with Valence, but am happy to help members of this forum as I did with MaseratiLife.

I am not sure I like them in CF, as the steering wheel would blend in with them too much. How about brushed stainless and maybe a lacquer over the top, that would be nice and half the cost.

Do we know what material the OEM ones are? If metal, you could have them stripped, brushed and lacquered...a nice little DIY job?

Have to agree with the above, its too much carbon in the same area for my taste as well.
Thing is when you theme an interior you have to follow that theme.(or split the theme).
I would sugest that the CF paddles would work with a standard leather steering wheel like on the 3200 and 4200 and that maybe a brushed aluminium finish to the carbon wheel of the GS and brushed alu finishing to the door panels as well would look good
