CEL's continue to ruin the ownership experience.

OK so I have the replacement EBCS/Pierburg here with me but before I swap it out I want to rule out the boost leak. Now remember this. I moved the pipes to the EBCS last time and also sprayed contact cleaner directly onto the EBCS and it fixed the CEL. This lasted about 50 miles of heavy driving and under WOT it went back into limp mode. So I took the car back home and to prove the point again I sprayed contact cleaner directly onto the EBCS and immediately the CEL was gone again. Either two things are happening.

1) The contact cleaner is helping to mask an intermittent fault with the EBCS
2) The fluid properties of the contact cleaner is plugging a leak or small tear in one of the pipes.

I think this will be he case for. Lot of parts, which is a real shame. I'm seriously thinking about buying up a selection of spares.....

It's been on an SD2 reader and it comes up with the same fault as I get on my unidiag which is the one about boost pressure sensor.

Here are the two MAP sensors. I would have thought that there would be an error code related to Manifold Absolute Pressure in the ECU stored for one of these but I guess we can check and clean them.

I think your CEL is related to that... Which one is A?

But it still could be the EBCS because then it would give that code because of the difference of pressure (boost) between the expected one and the measured one.

I've recently had trouble with CELs with P0236 coming up - among others. Cured by a good check or the system. Pierburg vavle okay, checked with 12v and clicked away happily, vacuum pipes seemed okay, a good suck and blow helps in the first instance! checked both absolute pressure sensors as the book suggests with a meter and they were both fine. While the RH airfilter was off i noticed a nipped vacuum tube on one; freed that up, checked it for leaks, redressed and hey presto no CEL! The nip just stopped the two sensors agreeing with each other. Just goes to show how many silly little things, barely noticeable can affect the whole experience. Back to lots of other bits now... :rolleyes:

Don’t worry, it’ll be back. 3200 CELs have mysterious powers of illumination, causes include;
overtightening the sump plug
dirty ashtrays
coolant being too wet
worn wiper blades
uneven tyre pressures

there are also several reasons which have yet to be explained by scientists. Even if you take the bulb out the ba5tard will still light up.

6.5 years thread from the dead. That is quite impressive. Now if only the CEL's on a 3200 would stay away for that long ! :beat_brick::laugh:
