Ok, a few weeks till the off and I would like to start to assemble the communal spares kit. I am personally not going to take tools as any issue I will get done by the roadside assistance.

Now I have quite a spares war chest in my garage, all 4.2 based. I can't carry the lot but I am happy to take stuff to share out and find out what everyone else has.

I'll start: (updated)

Altenator
Coil packs
3200 space saver (SteveM taking this)
4200 collapsible space saver
Throttle body
Oil pressure sender
MAF
Coolant sensor
Jump leads
Jack
Wheel brace
OBD scan tool (blutooth/iPhone)
Brake switch
Fuses
Brake pads

I also have a complete 4200 engine so suggest anything else we should take.

Wiper blades
bungee in case an exhaust drops
Duck tape for emergency hose repair
selection of hose clips
spare door mirror glass
extra tyre foam (cause theres bound to be a call on tyres at the same time)

It's not like an old classic car where with a few tools you can fix at the side of the road.
I think you can only account for tyre punctures, water leaks and fuses blowing/ relays failing/flat battery.
When I took my Elise on the continent I bought one of those puncture repair kits to plug a hole incase a screw goes all the way through. Not ideal, but better than nothing for a space saver/foam can only get you so far.
So my list would be:

space saver/foam/puncture repair kit/compressor
Gaffer tape/tie wraps/jubilee clips
Spare fuses/selection of relays/insulating tape/torch.
Small kit of metric spanners/screw drivers/pliers/Stanley knife.
One of those ciggie lighter to ciggie lighter battery jump starters.
Small can of WD40.

All the above I keep in a little bag no bigger than say a shoe box.

Plus usual safety stuff spare bulbs/triangles blah blah blah..

A laptop with SD2 and an OBD reader will definitely come in handy. I think we'll see at least 10 CEL lights between us! Anyone?

I'll actually be taking (seriously), various fluids including Millers Racing Oil, AP Brake fluid, Power steering fluid, tyre repair stuff (fresh), light bulbs, warning triangle, yellow bib, spare front number plate (I seem to lose these easily).

I would also suggest that we pack a new Bosch s5 battery if we can. Someone will need one.

How about a MAF?

At the rate we are going here, We'd almost be easier having a spare car on a trailer!

Forget the trailer, at this rate we will be able to build a spare car along the route.
Now seriously, I don't think you will be able to replace most of those parts on the road.
Oil and lambda sensors are a pain to reach or replace.

If I've not fitted it, I've got a handbrake cable, spare wheel nuts, bulbs, fuses, tywraps, tape, tools, might get the bottle jack, might get a spare belt from emblems too.

Yes most repairs are not ideal roadside jobs. Although i do remember on a trip to the Nurburgring with one of my TVR's stripping and rebuilding the cylinder head in the hotel car park. So some times needs must!

I'll bring my multimeter too, that should be able to diagnose more traditional electrical faults...and a bigger hammer for non electrical issues:screwy:
