Centre consol panel removal to paint

One of the tidying jobs I'd like to do this summer is re-finish the centre consol panels and door trim panels of my 04 spider as they have been significantly chipped. There are effectively 3 sections, the top surrounding the info centre screen and buttons, the lower panel with the sport button, heater controls etc and the oval panel unit housing the reverse lever.

Does the info centre panel and unit just lever off using the 2 holes on either side and then how easy is it to split just the cover from the rest of the unit?

The early oval panels appear to have 2 screws either side but mine has none. Thus is is a case of just carefully levering it out using the hole at the bottom corner with it held in bu sprung catches? I should then be able to split the reverse unit from its cover panel.

Are there any other pitfalls that I need to know before I start? The panels currently have the brown finish thus I may look at changing that to a less dated look.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, that is just what I'm looking for.

It does look like an exciting game, although I only want to go as far as getting the facia panels off to re-finish rather than disassemble the climate control unit etc.

What could possibly go wrong?
