Hello I’m new to forum and looking for some advice I’ve just got a 2010 4.7s.

After looking through threads I’ve found some really good advice.

I bought the car accident damaged and had it repaired by a friend of mine, there was no damage to steering or suspension but we did have to change power steering oil cooler radiator.

now I have it on the road the check steering warning is on. Does anyone have any advice or anything I should be looking out for?

Welcome. You’ve not said it GT or QP.

You really need to get the codes read but I’d guess you’ve got a problem with the steering angle sensor, steering solenoid or ecu.

Do you have any other warnings such as ESP/stability control if not you can probably rule out the angle sensor?

Does the power steering work and is there any noise?

Have you driven it? Is the steering excessively heavy at parking speed or very light at motorway speeds? The solenoid controls the speed sensitive part of the power steering.

Thanks for the reply oneball. It’s a GT. I’ve driven it the last 3 days now and being honest steering feels slightly heavy but I’ve not driven one before to compare against,

where would the steering angle sensor be please?

Suspect only the SD3 reader can read the sensor, main dealer or Indy who has one

Steering angle sensor is on the column but it’s linked to ABS and ESP so if they’re working I doubt it’s that.

Solenoid is on the rack where the pipes go in. It’s obvious as it’s got an electric connector.

I’ve got no abs or esp lights on and they seem to be working fine.

would it upset something as it was started briefly when it had no fluid in it?

the light wasn’t on when I got it damaged

I wouldn’t have thought so.

Try cleaning the contacts in the solenoid plug.

There’s a little ecu for the steering but I’m not sure where it’s mounted. Maybe that could have been damaged?
