Today I was given a little tour of GTO engineering which was probably a but Wates on me given my lack of knowledge of the brand and ability to retain information.

But these guys really are something else, British engineers at their very best.

They make every single part for a Ferrari GTO from scratch, and I mean every nut, bolt, casting, gears your name it they make it / have it made and build GTO’s from scratch. They even make the engine blocks.

They are also making their very own car, from scratch styled in the GTO, they are making their one engine which will rev to 10,000 rpm and have more than 500 horses.

This is in top of the restoration, race prep, race support (worldwide), servicing etc etc.

I was able to take some pics to give you an idea of the cars they are working on but some cars were off limits.
This will give you some idea ……

Brand new engine and block

That looks fabulous, how does that work with copyright and all that stuff? I mean they appear to be making and exact copy of the GTO?

They are so authentic they qualify to-race in historic race series. He told me they buy complete basket cases and create new cars with the ID. So basically they are restoring an original car with hand made parts.

I guess it must be legal but dont know the ins and outs, Ferrari clearly know what they do.

The California Spider in the picture is not a car being restored, its a brand new car being built
to exact OEM spec. So stew body aluminium doors boot bonnet etc….. what they are doing is is truly a sight to behold.

I had to look twice at the 308 rally car - how many of those exist ?

Should be 200 as they hologated them in group B but we know that’s ********! I think there’s about 15-20 all done by Michellotti.

Wow. I love stuff like this. If you've ever had the chance to look around Bicester Heritage Engineering site on their open days, it's the stuff of dreams

Yes, my favourite is the guy that rebuilds magnetos, proper geeky scientist type. He needs an apprentice or his skills will be lost.

And you have reminded me to get tickets for October if it’s not sold out already

The Bentley 'shop' is a particular favourite of mine & the radiator/grill workshop next door if you happen to need a new one for it - or for your WWII Spitfire!!

Again, Simon Furlonger had this until recently. It was rather loud!

I need to pop in there again as I haven't for a while, especially as it's only about 500 yards from my office!
They have a 288 GTO, several F40's and Enzo and and F50 in there at the moment.

Nipped into Simon Furlongers just now. The 166 is about to be shipped off to America.

They have some beautiful cars in there. Such as:-
