I had my 2005, 4200CC checked out by H.R. Owen in May. One of the things mentioned in their report was that the clutch release bearing was leaking oil and would eventually fail.
They suggested replacing it, along with the clutch itself which diagnosis indicated was 78% worn. I decided to leave the work until the next service in October.
Over the next few months, I noticed on a handful of occasions, the car would "pop" out of reverse as I engaged it. However, when re-engaged, everything would work as normal.
Fast forward to this morning. I always drive with the car in "sport mode'. We were headed out for the day and I noticed that the gear change had become sluggish and hesitant. As I drove along another mile or so, an intermittent warning beep went off as I tried to change gear.
Fearing something was about to fail, I turned around and headed for home. The last part of the short journey passed without either a "beep" or a hesitant gear change. Everything seemed to have cleared. As if the car had warmed up.
I was wondering whether anyone knew what was going on? Before I set out, my OH had asked what the "MSP" button was for. I explained and pressed it. The light didn't coming on at first, it took a couple of presses for it to do so. Does that make sense with regard to this problem?
We're headed up to Suffolk next weekend. I wouldn't want to come back on an AA truck.
Any ideas as to what could be the problem??
Thanks
