Tried searching and found a few "it's Italian" and "check engine light shocker" threads with disconnect the battery advice to try and reset it, but I'm a bit curious as to what brought it on? Is there some way of reading the code thats brought my check engine light on and finding out what caused it...............cheaply?

Yes, I just use a generic OBDII reader, about £15 off ebay, does engine codes, but that's all.

I have a Bluetooth one that cost <£10. Works like a charm with Android phone. Problem is I've never had a CEL....

Already did that. Now if you don't mind, I've lost count of how many times I danced anti-clockwise and naked around the battery tender......

i have an ELM 327 both cabled and blue tooth and using my i-phone or my lap top works good. I Use dashpro on my i-phone it works, and I think its ODB-II pro on my lap top and that works ok too. I also have two (yes i know paranoia) hand held plug in ODBII readers in the car at all times, one is real nice and displays the codes, i got it on e-bay but you don't see them any more. None of the off the shelf ones read the factory codes that i am aware of, but you get the standard codes and also the ability to clear them.

I have bought a Texa TXC running their IDC4 Plus software with the Supercar extension. It works great on my F430 and other modern Ferraris - it has also support for Maseratis from 4200 upwards.

I have been corresponding with Conaero about offering a service to forum members (I help people on Ferrari fora with diagnostic problems in return for beer money). If anyone is in the London area I'd be happy to help with my machine.

It'd certainly be interesting to see if there are any logged faults. Where abouts in London are you?

I'm in Blackheath (SE3). I've never hooked it up to a 4200 before so I'd be very interested in trying to find a mutually convenient time/location to try it out - all FOC of course.

Hmmm, if I could bear to drive it to work one day, I'm only in Clapham (at least that's where I'm based)
Other than that I'm in Harlow so I could drop Mrs Catman off at Lakeside.

Any dates you are particularly free? Bearing in mind there's a bank holiday coming up?
