Simon,
I reckon 56 days was good given that the timed 0.6 miles averaged 132mph. Top speed was therefore more!
Will give you the detail if you email me.

Good result that man!
I have been sent a NIP for doing 86 in a 60mph stretch of the A35 near bridport,4 lanes of traffic downhill with open roads and a hidden "Safety van".
I asked for an instant but i am 1mph over the option so they wish to take me to court.
I guess i may be banned as well :-(

Mark

I think you were treated very fairly and its good to see that being honest appears to have paid off. The time will fly by and I hope your insurance remains as reasonable as insuring a Maserati ever can be.

This might help, from the magistrates guidelines.

Thanks Simon,
nice of you.
Incidentally, a corollary to that is that the old 4200 is very sure-footed at speed. But, of course, none of you will know that, will you????????

Based upon my continental driving experience I hope to get in my 4200 later this year? I can report that mine seems to go light at the back at around 95 but by 130 the rear splitter under the back seems to start working as it is firmly planted to the limiter!

Mine is planted all the way through to 175, indicated, with the roof down, on a private dual-carriageway test track, at night!

I do not condone speeding and I’m happy to take responsibility for my own actions, even to being a passenger in such situations (some years ago I experienced 205mph as a passenger in a 959).

I have covered in excess of 1.6 million miles as a driver and to date the greatest non-mechanical damage I have inflicted on a vehicle was to write off my moped at 16 and recently to reverse into a lamppost in my van at dusk in the Edmonton Ikea… I like to think I can read road conditions with enough foresight to base my speed with precision. I don’t have anything to prove and I will not get myself drawn into road races.

I have had super bikes, I now have a super car, and these vehicles have been designed to manage super speeds… Pilots are taught to trust their instruments, trust their machines and processes and as a result flying is one of the safest forms of transport. At over 650 tonnes take-off weight an A380 barrelling down a runway at > 150mph to get airborne doesn’t make any sense but as passengers we can accept it without question.

Watching the coverage of the Manx TT’s this week the philosophy of the riders is spot on. The critics of the TT’s just don’t get it; go there and witness the races and you will get it.

There are times when it all comes together and it is good…..

Trouble with a van reversing is you have a large blind spot behind you.... Dem; it was one of the huge building flood light pillars, I'd been loading the motor for some time as it was getting dark and checked there were no cars behind me before I got in... grey lamp post didn't register - Doh! one folded door, bent bumper and dented pride!

Don't talk to me Newton, 20 odd years ago had the car broken into in Paris, the day before Bastille day, could I get it fixed....not a chance, was directed into an underground carpark where they had some repair stuff and in the heat, panic and lack of light reversed into a ceiling high support pillar 1 foot wide........not a happy bunny!

I think the most dangerous drivers are these that do 50 mph on the motorway holding up lorries usually driving some none descript Daewoo/Kia/Hyundai. They usually drive down a slip road at 30mph and come to a virtual stop at the dotted line instead of speeding up and merging in.
