Fingers crossed for you mate, the appeal for plasma donations seems to have gone quiet, I have tried twice but my veins won’t support the process for some reason.
The saying that “people should be vaccinated to protect others” has real meaning for those with real health issues.

So how can I or we help you?

Genuine question, I used to donate blood and put myself on the bone marrow registry, even happy to donate my organs after leaving this planet in a blaze of poor judgement undertaking ambulances in France....

Be a blood donor or is there a special list?

Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is a blood product prepared from the serum of between 1000 and 15 000 donors per batch. It is the treatment of choice for patients with antibody deficiencies. For this indication, IVIG is used at a 'replacement dose' of 200–400 mg/kg body weight, given approximately 3-weekly

Donating plasma is a little different from donating whole blood. When you donate whole blood, it goes straight into a collection bag and is later separated in a lab. When you donate plasma, the blood that's drawn from your arm goes through a special machine to separate the different parts of your blood.

Some good news at last

Dear participants,
Many thanks for your ongoing support of our research into the response to infection and vaccination against COVID-19 in patients with immunodeficiency. We would like to take this opportunity to update you on how the results of the COV-AD project so far, why the study is still of great importance to the immunodeficiency community and to highlight some of the work we will be doing in the immediate future. We would also like to take the opportunity to answer some of your frequently asked questions about the study
  1. Results from COV-AD - December 2021
As of 1st December 2021, we have recruited 507 participants to the COV-AD study, making it the largest study of immunity against COVID in patients with primary and secondary immunodeficiency in the world. Thank you once again for supporting the COV-AD study.

We have analysed the vaccine responses of the first 320 participants in COV-AD to date. The results of this analysis will be available to read as a pre-print (a preliminary publication that has not been peer-reviewed) later this month.

The main messages from our study so far are:
  • Over 50% of participants in COV-AD make an antibody response following two dose of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine.
  • Both vaccines induce comparable T cell responses in COV-AD participants.

If you have not received your antibody results from the COV-AD study, please contact your local immunologist who will be able to give you this information and explain what they mean for you.

  1. Your ongoing participation in the COV-AD study
We have recently had approval to continue the COV-AD into 2022 to study the immune response to the third primary immunisation and booster vaccinations in individuals with antibody deficiency.

May I ask if these tests include those who have immunosupressants administered?
