Creaking sound

As mentioned late last month, I took my first proper road trip to the south of France (1200 miles total), which was a blast. I loved every moment of the journey except may be the 3h wait at Eurotunnel due to the congestion cause by LeMans.

Since I came back, I noticed a fairly noisy creaking sound everytime I would maneuver at standstill (parallel parking for example, coming out of a parking space etc...). Over the past week, the sound has also started to happen when I am braking at low speed to get the car get to a stop position. It seems to come from the front wheel train, and the creaks are quite noisy inside the cabin. I don't feel any vibration on the steering column or the wheels, but it resonates a bit through the front axle.

After reading up online - it appears that it could be as simple as greasing up the ball joints, or having them replaced, up to problems with fishbones etc... So any thoughts from your part would be greatly appreciated.

Hope its not Fish Bones...they usually come with a fishy pong!

More likely dry bushes esp if you trip was in a warm environment.

I had that with mine.
Mechanic put it on the ramp and shouted across the garage "you have a dry bush".
Thought that was a bit personal but a cheap fix!

It's normal for the suspension bushes to creak when the car is cold or hasn't been driven for a number of days but if it is doing it all of the time, it is likely that you will need a new set of bushes. It's best to do all of them & both sides, in fact I think they are only sold as a complete kit.

Supplied and fitted it's around £1,500 from memory

Looking at the parts on eurospares, its around £210 a set - so 420ish for front and back... Is there really 1k of labor involved?

Had my car picked up by Giallo yesterday - I have to say those guys are very professional... It's refreshing!

As expected I have a problem with the front bushes, they are shot and need to be replaced. Matthew gave me a rough idea of what it might cost to replace before he gets a final quote formalized.

He thinks there is £300 worth of part on each side (£600) and about £1k of labor... + VAT comes to £2k. Ouch ! That is steep.

Although I will need to wait for a formal quote, does it feel right to you?

He also mentioned that he will try to see if the extended warranty can work on this type of work. Not sure whether anyone of you every had this covered under warranty,

Thanks for your throughts

Got this after Brunty when I set off to leave, went after a 2 minutes and has never happened again. Will get Giallo to check it at next visit.

My QP does it after a long run..( sounds like an old creaking pram) no play picked up at MOT , silicon rubber spray seems to do the trick applied liberally to bushes with wheels off.
Also worth looking at the shock absorber damper rod..this dust shield can rub on the shock absorber body creating a similar creak...
Worth a try IMO

Cheers
