No different to any modern car TBF.

  • AA or equivalent
  • Tyre repair or spare (you may struggle to find matching tyres at short notice, so be prepared for a wait or get something similar if you get a flat)
  • Don't get carried away with MPH as some countries will impound the car
  • Try via michelin to plan your route, they are more up-to-date with seasonal road closure.
  • Remember it's a big car and most old hotels carparks and entrance can be tight and be aware most charge c€25.00 per night for the car to be parked or double that in place like Monaco... it soon adds up
  • Don't drive for too long per day or your passengers may not enjoy the trip and you may not be able to repeat it.
  • Get a fob for the toll roads via https://www.emovis-tag.co.uk/subscr...MI6YOMpajJ-QIVdGHmCh0vHAMFEAAYASAAEgI3IPD_BwE
  • watch out for Ethanol content at the pumps
  • If going via the chunnel, book your car as if it has a roof box so you can use the coach carriage... saves you knackering the alloys.
  • France still closes for a very long lunch so plan your fueling if in the sticks...no fun waiting for 3 hours when you are on fumes (I know).
  • Some mountain routes are closed very early in the autumn for snow and ice.
  • Enjoy

I never knew about your alloys getting damaged if you dont book coach carriage :clapps:

If you want to save a few euros on your petrol budget there's a few app similar to petrolprices.com, clevertanken.de and https://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/ for Germany and France.

The spread of prices is well worth a few minutes of planning and should pay for a free beer at the end of the day's driving.
That’s a top tip. Looks like I’ve 35 cents spread within 4km of where I’m sat now!

Just been on the emojis site to get set up with a tag and they’re out of stock of tags until 22/26 august.
Yes, I’ve got my old “expired” tag packed up and ready to send back to them. I do wonder whether emovis are about to launch a france/spain/portugal/italy tag like the bip and go one.

I had an interesting conversation yesterday with Eurotunnel as it would not allow me to switch cars from my RR (currently in the shop for new turbos) to an F Pace SVR online. Lady on the phone explained it was due to different size and therefore carriage and there was now no longer any available crossings Sun eve post F1GP! The RR was in the truck carriage so I suggested just putting it there as a straight replacement. Computer says No. Ok I'll put a roof box on so now it will have to go where the RR was. Let me talk to my mgr..... 5 mins later 'the Jag is longer than the RR', No it isn't as I googled the data. 'Wider'. No. nor taller. Let me speak again to my mgr....... 5 mins later. OK, you are booked! I wonder how many customers would have been fobbed off in this way. BTW this is with a 515GBP Flexi Plus ticket!!

I’ve gone with Ulys €10 for tag delivered and €2 per month of use plus the toll charge. Far cheaper than Emovis which if I could of got a tag was €8 per month

That is what I used before I got hold of an actual French tag.

Most of the bad reviews are down to being unable to set up an account because of the banking. Accepting card payment or even PayPal would simplify things.

I've never had a tag and travelled all over Europe in cars and on bikes, nowadays with a debit/credit card it's super easy. Gone are the days fiddling for change, downside is no change for parking, Be/Ch/Ge don't seem as up on card payments for parking as in the UK but most have apps which is a pain.

You can buy at the border apparently.

We came through the Swiss border last Saturday and there is a lane at the border crossing point where you can buy a vignette.

There was no queue and the whole process was quick and easy. Also cheaper than buying online before you go

You need to trust that it will go up! It was a bit hit and miss for me until a mate said you need to be doing at least 25kmh for it to work properly so have courage. It's a bit heart in mouth though!
This - it only worked twice when I went abroad this year. Waste of time and money.

Back from 2k mile French trip. The GT does an amazing job looking good stationary in the garage but an even better job eating chunks of France and creating memories. Get those cars out and drive them!

emovis benefit to me is when you hit big queues at tolls you can mainly zip through the special lane. Saved us a chunk of dead time
