Afternoon all. My CTEK MX10 failed after 13 months and after a bit of hassle, Amazon have refunded the cost. I use this almost exclusively on the GS and am wondering if this model is slightly overkill and a 5 or 7 amp model would suffice. Thoughts appreciated, thanks. Richard
Use a Ctec MXS10 myself, always powered up on my GS for the last 9 years without problem.
No idea how old the battery is but I’ve never replaced it.
So no complaints

Thanks for all of the comments. I've ended up replacing it with a smaller 7.2A version, a bit cheaper and a 5 year warranty. Tempted by the Lidl one but I do leave it plugged in for weeks at a time and I love the car too much to take risks, plus the plug is handy. Might make a trip to Lidl as that charger does look cheap and we have too many cars. Will be having a car cull out this spring and will be selling a very tidy Fiat Coupe 16v turbo and my wife's Alfa GT. Thanks Richard.

Just for info after battery failure in my 911 I noticed my CTEK 5.0 MXS still wasn’t charging the new battery. Then noticed the MODE button had no effect anymore so it has obviously failed completely (and wonder if it took my battery with it. ). Interestingly it’s the newer of the two 5.0 that I have so I’m hoping it’s not a lowering in the quality of their products. I just ordered a replacement but think I should have tried an alternative like the one mentioned at the top of this thread. Will update of I see more failures…..
