Ctek MXS 5 Fitting Help

I have just bought one of these to plug in the beast nightly. It comes with the quick clip sockets with ring one end and female plug the other.

Before I connect this to the terminals, should I isolate the battery by the switch (Gransport)? Is there anything else fatal I could do?

I'd appreciate any tips, tricks and general feedback on these charger/conditioners.

They also seem to have a once yearly program you can run to get the battery back to brand new? Is this a safe or wise thing to do?

Thanks

It's 12V so unless you have some serious condition it wont do you any harm. If disconnecting things , disconnect the neutral first so not to short out if you earth the spanner. Not much voltage but plenty current!

I mean fatal for the car! I've had plenty of 240v shocks so not worried about that! Worried about ecu and other car bits more than myself...

I'd disconnect per Allan's comments. I have a CTEK. I don't recall anything in the manual about getting it back to like new, but it surely seems to work OK.

I wired mine into the battery on my 3200. I am sure it had 6mm bolts for auxiliary stuff, didn't need to disconnect anything. Not sure about GS though.

Haha its our coffee machine, sometimes the switch gets wet from steam and you get a bolt up your arm!

I have a comfort connect. It's jolly neat. My Ultragauge also helpfully shows that the battery voltage is a damned sight more stable than the dash gauge would suggest :)

Disconnecting the battery will make it safer for you but there is no requirement really! If you do negative off first back on last! I have a CTEK connected to mine whenever it's not being used, great piece of kit.

me too, another vote for C-TEK great piece of kit, and note the C-tek does a controlled start up when you connect, so it should be safe for the car no matter what you do. Safest thing is to connect the leads with the C-Tek not plugged in, then plug it in at the mains, this will make the C-tek box do its thing and start up nicely on your battery.

Well that was a mission!!! I tried to fit the comfort leads without taking the battery out of its holder/clamp. Its near on impossible to get a spanner in that compartment and do anything with it.. Negative side was 6mm bolt CTEK fits fine. Positive is 8mm bolt with extension piece and other leads connected to it..CTEK doesn't fit.. Positive side had bolt head facing me so needed to to swapped round to nut facing me. Metric spanners wouldn't fit bolt head I had to use American??! Random! Had to cut spade end off CTEK lead and crimp on an 8mm or whatever one to fit. 10 minute job took 1.5hrs by the time I had run around for parts!

Got it plugged in now so it can work its magic.

Tracker activated today too hence CTEK rush.

CTEK definitely required to maintain your battery volts when using the tracker! Removed mine last month, glad I did actually it looked like it had been installed by an ape! Was a very poor install.
